July 14, 200817 yr DAN UGGLA. Even though I really like Nolasco this is the first year he has been so dominant, so we can't assume he is going to be like this every year.
July 14, 200817 yr agree Uggla is the first 2nd baseman since Joe Gordon in 1940 He will keep those stats up
July 14, 200817 yr This organization doesn't believe in long term deals for pitchers and I agree with that... so I doubt we will lock up Nolasco. I'm happy with Hanley for now.
July 14, 200817 yr edit: 1st 2nd baseman since Joe GOrdon to hit 20 homeruns in three straight seasons
July 14, 200817 yr Nobody has earned it yet. Nolasco is great, but we need to see him pitch like this over a full year. Maybe Uggla, but we have chris coglohan in the minors, so i doubt we sign him longterm. The whole Cooley vs Cohglan is strange to say the least. Depending on next year, we could have a real dilemma on our hands. On one had, Cohglan is supposed to be the 2b of the future and seems to be on pace to be just that. On the other hand, Uggla is getting better defensively, learning patience at the plate with his rising OBP rates, and is on pace to break the single season home run record for a 2nd baseman. He very well could go on to be one of the best slugging 2nd basemen in history. We could always move one to first or 3rd. Matt Domiguez is still a good ways away. Can't we just trade Chris coglohan? He is a top ten second baseman prospect. and we already know what we're getting with Uggla, so we have no use for Chris coglohan. even though im curious to see how good he performs. Are you a real person, or somebody playing a prank on this forum? What?
July 14, 200817 yr Like some have said, I don't know that there's anyone on the team I'd be willing to give a long-term contract to at this point, with Uggla probably receiving the most consideration.
July 14, 200817 yr Author You lock up Hermida now and Uggla has to be offered at least a 4-year contract. Outside of that you see which of Johnson or Olsen finishes the year the strongest and offer the better of the two a longterm contract. ah NOOOOOOOOOOO way in hell should we lock up hermida, am i like the only one that thinks this dude sucks? i cant stand his ass, i would rather have gonzo starting then this douce bag.... he gets to much leway just cuz he came strong at the end of last year..... dude at best is average player whats he hitting like 255? f*** HERMEDIA The person who suggested this might have been sarcastic, but it actually would'nt be that bad of a deal. Since Hermida is currently in a slump, we could get him for cheap. He will be a lot better in a couple years.
