All-Star Break...

Featured Replies

Just something I've always wondered about the All-Star Break...wondering if anyone else has ever wondered this...

Anyone ever figured it's too short as far as being an actual "break" for the players and staffs...especially All-Stars? Yes you get Monday and Tuesday off...but thats just two days...for teams that return to play on Thursday, I do believe they all have a workout on Wednesday...which means Wednesday isn't much of a break at all...

For teams lucky enough to return to play on Thursday, they seem to get Wednesday off but is that enough?

And if you're an All-Star who returns to play on Thursday...you don't get Monday or Tuesday off and you have to return to workout on Wednesday which means: NO BREAK!

For a fan, it seems like enough...two festive days, and one, maybe two complete off days...but I'm figuring its really not enough for the actual players, coaches, and staffs...

I'm guessing one week is a more reasonable time off if they really wanted the break to be a true "break"

I could be completely off but its just something I've thought for years...anyone else?

Yeah it's not really a break if you are playing in the all-star game... but I like it that way...I need my baseball, so the shorter the break the better!!!

Well, the players make at least $390,000 and still have October/November to mid-February off. They "work" about 7 hours a day.

That seems good enough for me.

To me the all-star break is to long lol. I need my baseball man im so bored. and like rabbethan said they get the whole winter off so that should be enough.

I was thinking more for those players whos familes and children live in other cities... for example, I don't know if Mike Jacobs' twin girls live all the way in San Diego (or Chula Vista, whatever it was) but if they do then one or two days between 6 months sure isnt enough to visit your kids...

I'm sure they see their kids more during the whole season than just the all-star break. And if they don't then that's their own personal issue they should work out.

As for Jacobs, I'm sure his wife/twins live in FL for some time as well. I'm pretty sure they were born here, and on the Inside the Marlins: Making the Squad at one point Freddie was talking about how Mike needed the morning off to take his kids to the doctor and I'm sure he wasn't going all the way to SD to do that.
