He's a reliever.

which could signal either Tucker or Hendrickson getting the start on Tuesday while we wait for Anibal to finish his rehab.

Note: Both Anibal and Burke Badenhop will be starting on rehab assignments tonight.

I'm gonna guess Hendrickson for the start. That would make two lefties in the rotation and he has had more success at starting this year.

Yeah, JJ on Sunday vs the Phillies, Volastad on Monday vs the Braves, and ??? on Tuesday vs the Braves.

Maybe Hendrix or Tucker will get back on track.

I think the front office really sees it the way I do, right now. Tucker looks like a reliever.

Hendrickson will get a start or 2, and then we'll see Anibal Sanchez.

Btw, Delgado was also part of the Beckett-Hanley trade.

Maybe Hendrix or Tucker will get back on track.

I agree Erick, although I am sure all of us would love to call up more pitchers, there comes a point where we just got to stick it out with who we have.

That being said neither Hendrickson nor Tucker belongs as a starter in my eyes and Anibal's return can't get here much quicker.

Maybe Hendrix or Tucker will get back on track.

And Hendrickson doesn't look like a reliever? He has much better career numbers out of the pen.

Hendrickson is what he is.

Long reliever / spot starter.

The journeyman.

You simply don't put young pitchers in a situation to get hammered. Tucker has 2 pitches. That, simply, doesn't work as a starter.

It'll only be a 2 start thing (since Anibal is coming back), so you stick the veteran out there, hoping he can re-live April for at least 1 of those 2 starts.

Maybe Hendrix or Tucker will get back on track.

My point is if Tucker starts and struggles, Hendrickson can come in out of the pen. His numbers in relief are astronomically better than his numbers as a starter.

my point is, Tucker was already put in a situation to get a hold, meaning the organization thinks much more highly of him, and his future.

Hendrickson, on the other hand, is a long reliever. If he struggles, no problem. We'll just go to Waechter.

Maybe Hendrix or Tucker will get back on track.

So that way we waste two pen pitchers instead of going with a sure thing?

Tucker can go multiple innings out of the pen too, if need be. So can Delgado now.

It's not as big as you make it sound.

The key here is that Tucker (with 2 pitches) can't give quality starts, and the last thing we can do, is destroy his confidence.

Hendrickson is a journeyman, who will be gone at the end of the year. This IS his real role. Long reliever / spot starter.

blah. I wanted Gaby. Yea he struggled in Triple A, but that's such an such an extreme park it can make the best pitcher look bad. Oh well. Delgado could be a guy to surprise since teams probably don't have an extensive scouting report out on him yet.

Do you think Delgado is going to have a key role in the pen, or will he just be the long reliever, when games get out of hand? That's probably the intriguing question...
