July 24, 200818 yr Does anyone have any updates about him and are we gonna call him up this year. I know cody has been plaing great out there but what about puting him left field for josh willingham whos just waisting space out there. I am sorry but i dont see josh helping us the rest of the year the back really messes him up!
July 24, 200818 yr sh hasn't been doing great but only replacement i see for him is if we trade for good LF if not we keep him there but no maybin no lf
July 24, 200818 yr Maybin is contributing in AA, as Willingham is contributing in MLB. Hammer was hitting over .300 before he re-aggravated his back. He missed a couple months. He's struggling. But you have to trust that a proven player will pick it back up...Maybin hasn't developed into a MLB caliber player yet, and you don't screw up a 21 year olds' development like that. There's no need to, really.

July 24, 200818 yr yes what i meant was if miracle happens and we get a player like matt holliday or a proven left fielder....i would rather keep josh there. josh draws alot of walks and i'm sure he can pick it back up, but i get where your coming from

Okay i know that but he jus doesnt look comfortable and you know his back still hurts and he aint even helping defensivly, We aint got time for him to find his way we need to win now if we want any chance!

What would you like him to do, defensively? Catch the balls hit to RF? He makes the routine plays. Sure he's not the GREATEST out there, but he's a lot better than Gonzo. You don't screw up a 21 year olds' development. That's just dumb. Maybin hasn't done much this year, to prove he belongs. He's no Dallas McPherson right now. The only thing we should be complaining about is the 1B scenario. The LF scenario will stay this way, the rest of the year. BTW, we're not getting Holliday.
July 24, 200818 yr Maybin is way better off in the minors. just let him finish the year off there, call him up in september, put him in one of the winter leagues and then we'll see how he does in spring training '09.

Are you telling me your more worried about jacobs then willingham, and i aint saying to bring him up i was just wondering if anybody had info on him or if they were thinking about bringing him up, I really like josh but hes hurt and he aint gonna contribute as much as he did. I think mike jacobs will contribute alot more then JOSH What would you like him to do, defensively? Catch the balls hit to RF? He makes the routine plays. Yes, I really hate the fact our 1B has an .OBP under .300, and is the worst defensive 1B, in baseball...by far. I hate the fact he's on the team when we have a guy who's hit 34 HR's waiting for his chance in the minors. So yes...I'd take Willingham over Jacobs anyday of the week. Especially since we don't really have a replacement for Hammer, when we do, indeed, have one for Jacobs.
July 24, 200818 yr I'm just waiting for one the genius' in this thread to point out the reason Maybin isn't coming up anytime soon is because he's been on the DL since Jul 4th. How's he's contributing in AA I haven't the faintest idea. When he returns, if nothing else it will take him another three weeks+ to get back in playing shape and competitive hell ya let's phone Zebulon and have him helicoptered over to Wrigley and he can start tonight. This is like suggesting Sergio Mitre is tradebait. One minute of research friends..one minute. Milb.com click southern league click mudcats click Maybin click oooh the time he played Jul 3rd...hmmm...let's check the Southern League's transaction report click...yep there he is on the DL. Wow that was so hard.

He hit around .310 in June, was on a role until he was hurt. Gut it up and admit you were wrong. Life goes on. And so you know I wasn't picking you out, I found it amazing no one in the thread had the faintest idea Maybin has been on the DL for three weeks, especially the guy who started the thread. :banghead

Josh Willingham was hitting OVER .310 before he got injured...at the MLB level. Josh Willingham was one of the best hitters this team had last year, when we really needed a big hit. All of the sudden, he has a stint of about 70 AB's where he struggles, and he deserves to be gone? OVERALL, Maybin's #'s don't indicate he deserves a callup, healthy or not. I know you weren't calling me out, and you make a good point saying he's injured. I just want to point out, I don't think Maybin is ready. Healthy or not.

It is obvious Maybin was not ready.A 13 year old could tell you that. The point is he was improving before the injury. He could have been well on his way to a September call-up had he not been injured.
July 24, 200818 yr I'll say it one more time...the issue wasn't Maybin as much as it was all these people had no idea the guy had been on the DL for three weeks. The rest is frosting on the cake. I was being a little obnoxious about it (my bad :notworthy) just as a reminder that a little research goes a long when posting here or anywhere. Research is so simple it baffles me why people don't take the minute it takes to do it.
