August 13, 200817 yr DO YOU THINK THERE WILL EVER BE BUS SERVICE TO AND FROM THE NEW BASEBALL STADIUM?? I would LOVE to watch the game in person. BUT I don't drive. Thanks Glow
August 13, 200817 yr Probably not. Recent federal regulations call for public transit systems to get out of the business of special event shuttles. It's doubtful you'll see the Marlins (or many teams for that matter) taking on the expense to hire private firms.
August 13, 200817 yr I thought they were going to possibly have street cars/trolleys from the megaplan going to and from the stadium?
August 13, 200817 yr I thought they were going to possibly have street cars/trolleys from the megaplan going to and from the stadium? Yeah if you are in Miami you should be fine. If you are coming from Broward you would have to find one of those shuttles to Miami-Dade and from there hit up one of those street cars.
August 19, 200817 yr I'd do it - PM me if you're in / near Palmetto Bay / Cutler Bay & want to share the ride & cost. I usually want to go Fri / Sat / maybe Sunday.
August 28, 200817 yr If you're in and around Miami, it shouldn't be that problematic to get to the Stadium, provided it is located at the OB site. Bus service runs up and down both 17th Ave and NW 7th Street which is about where the OB site is. I believe there is even a stop in front of the gates of the OB site or in front of the doctors office just down 7th.
September 8, 200817 yr Well technically if your in broward you can take transportation, youd just have to leave very early. Get off on the tri rail station by 37 avenue wlak to the bus on 37, south to 7th st and transfer to the eastbound bus that stops in front of the ob.

It's doubtful you'll see the Marlins (or many teams for that matter) taking on the expense to hire private firms. yeah - counterproductive legislation - but what else is new any existing or planned transit lines will be OK as long as it's the normal route and not for the "special event" - in phx we are building light rail near the basketball and baseball venues, they'll obviously be able to get anyone along the line to and from the game I know the seahawks were bit by this legislation though in the past they've contracted with the public transport company to provide express bus service to the stadium - there is little parking to be had around the stadium and it was a reasonable cost kept cars off the streets, made it a lot less congested and got rid of some of the drinking & driving concern this year they were no longer able to do this as they had to accept bids from private companies - only 1 placed a bid and it was complete garbage - no secured park and ride locations, no secured time table, permits not in order and silly expensive ........ the team had to pass so that means only local service will be available, which will increase the amount of time passengers are on the bus and could dissuade people from riding
September 8, 200817 yr I think the point is to promote private competition and curtail reliance upon public transit systems. The former I can understand, but we should encouraging the latter. However, too many municipalities are running deficits and the overtime expenditures to transit operators are quite expensive. Combine that with mounting pressures for maintenance and capital expenditures as most of their buildings and vehicles were built 20-40 years ago.
