  1. Miami Marlins - 1956 @ The OB Vs. Columbus Jets
  2. Digging it so much! I was going to go to the groundbreaking but had family over here (went to bed at 7am... should have just stayed up and gone... *sniffs*) Anyway, I like the blue seats, I would have hated them in teal or black or something like that. Blue or Green, that' s fine with me. ANyone know more about the "water feature" at center? And yes, there is a picture of baseball played in the Orange Bowl. A black and white. I'll see if I can dig it up.
  3. Really, Fredi Gonzalez is a complete douchebag. Harsh but true. I think he needs to fire up the team. He seems a little too laid back for my taste. And stop listening to the FO.
  4. The Marlins are giving me an ulcer. Meh! Like we need another pinch hitter? Okay, so the FO is in love with Boni and it's obvious, unless he tweaks something, that the dude is not coming out of the line up. We get it, fine. I'll just try to go to my happy place when I see him in the line up. BUT... Uggs is up and down. Cantu is having his own issues (I think dudeman is exhausted cause he's been playing since the WBC.). Anyway, Plug Gaby at 3rd for a few games. Bring BC to play right, Herms at left, CC at second and Gload/Helms at 1st. I realize it's a psychotic but, at this point in time, I really don't care. Uggs, if you stick to statistics, isn't going to have a good second half. (You never know but...let's stick with what we know), Boni, I don't have a problem with him, I think he could be pretty alright but, what's the point for all of that speed if you can't get on base and once you do, you get caught stealing? I could totally excuse his errors at third if he would just produce offensively a bit more. I am wondering when his love fest will end? Perhaps in spring training when he still doesn't produce? And Cantu, I think, needs a bit of a break. As for our batting issues how many people think it's the batting coach? I realize he's got a lot to deal with considering that our crew, this year, doens't seem to make adjustments. But, seriously, how many called three strikes are you gonna let pass by?
  5. Dunno about keeping that DP combo. Uggla has horrible range for a second baseman. There has been numerous times where a ball gets past him because he's, IMHO, too big to get enough speed to catch up. Hanley, in SS is another hassle. Whenever a ball gets hit awkwardly to him, I cringe. I would be fine with a guy that barely hits but can come out with great digs - something like the Gonzo/Castillo combo. Obviously, since the FO is just mad in love with Boni, they should see how that combo would work - Hanley/Boni. All of these months they've had the chance to swap around guys, it's disheartening to see the same crap night in, night out.
  6. Foodwise - 'cause I am sick of... Robbie-Pro-Dol-Shark stadium's faire: El Rey De Las Fritas McDonalds (I got to have a McHotdog over in Toronto some years back as well as a McPizza - both were great!) La Carreta Latin Cafe Versailles (knowing Versailles, they'll have a zillion stands like they do at MIA ) Hooters Chilis Carvel Ben and Jerrys PF Changs Conine's Clubhouse Grill - The Mahogany Grille (Niner's and Hawk's restaurants) And then you can do normal park food - hotdogs, burgers, peanuts... etc. I know Florida has the whole Tobacco free thing, but, being as it is Miami, wouldn't it be cool to have a Cigar shop? With a few flat screens so you can still see the game.
  7. I do like Boni - he has potential - but there's trying too hard and trying too stupid. Those times that he's cut off Hanley = Stupid. Holding off during the squeeze play with Wes = Stupid (although, mistakes do happen, signs get mis-read) I would stick Boni down to the 8 hole and give him a couple more shots. If that still doesn't work - send him back down and bring up De Aza and have him lead off. I like Coggie but do NOT understand why in the h*ll Freddi would leave Coggie over De Aza considering what the man did in the short time that he was playing. Uggs is showing signs of life. Cantu and Hermida are struggling. WHERE IS OUR BATTING COACH?! I mean, c'mon, remember when players used to make ADJUSTMENTS to their ABs? if Hermida continues to struggle, get Gload out there! Most of our batters seem to go up there to hit a HR and only a HR. They need to go out there with the thoughts of putting the ball in play. You know "the little things" as T-Hut likes to say. ESPECIALLY with RISP. When you take big cuts, you don't always get lucky. Something needs to happen. While no team can win every game in the series (wouldn't that be something? ), the blown leads are just disgusting. So are the called three strikes when the guys just watch the ball go by. I could, at least, respect a swinging strike - you tried.
  8. I do love sitting behind Home Plate, field level seats. Except for the Skybox and nose bleed sections, I've sat everywhere for Fish games and Home Plate is my fav, 1st base line (over the Marlins' dugout) is next. Behind home plate you get to hear the 'whack' of every pitch and can yell your heart out at the ump. The netting doesn't really restrict too much. Now if you wanna go and take piccies, down one of the lines would do. Jackie
  9. What an inappropriate and snarky comment. He fails to realize that this will bring jobs and construction to a city that is in limbo. I am disgusted that this jerk represents anyone. Sarnoff and Regalado both need to head off to some island in the middle of nowhere (Think Lost but with much more agressive polar bears and black mists.).
  10. They've said that it would double as a concert stadium. I figure they could probably stick around 10-15 concerts per year or so. It's about 10-15,000 seats bigger than the various arenas but I could see something like what Zeta used to do in Biccentenial and Bayfront - the Bonzai concerts with several different acts. Different Latin acts would do well there, I think. (As lovely as West Palm is, I am sick of driving up there for concerts.) My pop's house is 2-3 blocks away from the OB site. I still remember my whole family sitting in the backyard in lawn chairs listening to Michael Jackson. When the Stones played there, I had the windows open. Prince, Genesis and a bunch of others. Anyway, considering the cost of concerts now a days, they really don't need to sell out to make money. If they inflate parking for special events like AAA does (I paid $35.00 to park once).
  11. Soccer complex, okay, I can see. Equestrian center? Umm, no.
  12. THIS citizen of Miami-Dade doesn't care if my taxes are used for the Stadium, which, they are not going to be anyway. As much as people live in la-la land about the funding for the stadium, sorry folks, if it's not used for the "Miami Mega Plan" that money isn't going to go to you, me, or anyone in-between. Also Loria paying for the thing himself would probably have the Marlins out of Miami faster than you can blink. He would have to pay for taxes on the stadium. We aren't the Yankees. I do believe that both the city and the county want the stadium they just want it under better terms. A big construction project would do well with revitalizing Miami. Everything else has stopped. It would bring construction work and jobs for the 80+ games, additinal activities and also concerts. And I agree with the comissioners, the jobs should be given to Miami-Dade citizens and not to people outside of the county.
  13. Brewsters Millions, love that movie!! Anyway, the OB sits on 40 Acres. You want to see how much bigger the OB site is? Go to maps.yahoo.com and plug in - 1501 NW 3rd Street, Miami, Florida (That's the OB and you should see an old aerial with the OB). and your TO point is 701 Arena Blvd. Where the heck would a baseball stadium, especially one the likes of the rendering, fit in the Arena land? It does have the four parking areas and there are varying places to park but they wouldn't be able to fit, IMHO the stadium in that plot of land. And you have the RR, the adjacent buildings, metrorail. A lot of things would probably have to be knocked down. If that's the only way we can keep the fish in Miami, go for it. But, I don't like this whole "privately" owned crap nor do I believe that Straub has the kind of cash needed to build the stadium or own the Marlins. I am not patient, never will be, so this is driving me nuts. A yes or a no would suffice. J.
  14. Whats sad is that we were supposed to break ground this month..... Dunno how long it takes to do that, but the grounds are completely empty at the moment. Even the old scoreboard is gone. Hell, I'll grab a shovel! LOL! Jackie
  15. Seems like the baseball God's have answered our prayers. :notworthy Now, if Stormin' Norman decides to appeal does any one know if that will slow down the process of building the stadium? I swear, sue the a-hole for cost overruns. Jackie
  16. Braman needs to get laid. Maybe then he'll find something better to do with his time.
  17. mymarlins: aka: Norman Braman. Dude, are you that pissed off that no one takes you seriously? I mean, really, it's okay of you run a business out of your garage, some people do. You know, you MIGHT get some interest if you stop crapping on everyone currently involved with the Marlins because you don't like the schematics.
  18. so much contradiction round here. And the contradiction is coming from Samson as well. I thought he hinted that there was nothing to worry about because ground breaking wasn't going to begin until November. The ruling will come before that, or at least I hope. If it does then it should be no problem. That's what I think, at least Me thinks that with the OB site cleared, they may be shooting to open before opening day in 2011. I mean, if it opens ahead of schedule, you can always stick something in the venue, a concert or something. Anything to start making money and I guess to take a peak as to how the venue works in terms of fan enjoyment.
  19. If you're in and around Miami, it shouldn't be that problematic to get to the Stadium, provided it is located at the OB site. Bus service runs up and down both 17th Ave and NW 7th Street which is about where the OB site is. I believe there is even a stop in front of the gates of the OB site or in front of the doctors office just down 7th.
  20. La Femme Nikita - I'll watch all five seasons in a week when I get in a Nikita mood & JAG
  21. The OB site for a horse track?!?! Umm, we had Hialeah park for that and it went no where. Not too sure horses are a sure thing in Miami. I know Gulfstream does great, but not sure how it would do this far down. I can see the soccer stadium working, however, they can use Marlins Stadium for that as well, just convert it. Give the OB site to the Fish. Give the Arena site to Norman the f***head and let him put another auto dealer on there, give Straubb a cut and everyone is happy.
  22. He must have been really high or something... "Yeah man... lets do it! lets totally do it! Lets buy the freakin marlins man!" Prob found the start up capital in his sofa. "Yo!! I got fity cents!! Letz do dis!"
  23. Hey gang, Does anyone know the entrance songs when our boys step up to the plate?
  24. Good composure Chris!! :notworthy
