I took Pudge due to our current situation.

We have an easy replacement for Lowell but not Irod.

Would rather dump L.C. and D.Lee to sign them both though

I think its lowell all the way. Pudge is 32 and thats a declining age for catchers. Lowell is in his prime and his best seasons are ahead of him. :thumbup

for a team in our situation lowell is the obvious financial choice. you dont wanna put 8mil a year for 3yrs (if that wut he gets which look that will be the minimum he gets) into a catcher who is passed his prime.

Pudge is a more proven baseball player and Cabs is a good replacement for Lowell.

I think the fan base will take it easier losing Lowell than Pudge.

I rather keep both than to decide

True, he is older than Lowell and is more beat up but I don't think he's past his prime.

And how do you know lowell won't look like Pat Burrell next year? Didn't that show what huge contracts based on 1 year can do?

Pudge

He came up big the Whole season for us, and Defensively Was very good. He called a great game for the pitchers the whole season. The pitchers were very comftable with him behind the plate and thats the number 1 thing. We have easy replacements for Lowell but not for Pudge. Mike Redmond did solid last season when we traded CJ but we cant count on him and Castro to call the pitching game.

Mike Lowell has been improving every year.... whats to say he will back track that much?

most catchers after 32 start decline. he didnt have the greatest season of his career 18homers 85rbis its good but nothin compared to what he has done in past seasons. every1 is lookin at what he did in the playoffs but doesnt see that he didnt have that great of a regular season to be awarded a huge contract.

I quote Mabdul Doobakus:

Yogi Berra - started sucking when he was 37

Roy Campanella - started sucking when he was 34.

Johnny Bench - never really sucked, but his play fell off some beginning at 34

Carlton Fisk - started sucking at 42.

He has definately improved in each year but you can never put a guarantee on what is to come. He NEVER sniffed being near the league lead in HR and RBI before this year. You can call it a fluke, a Peak, or this is what he will become. God-willing, its what he has become. Since that's not a guarantee, I'd take Pudge b/c he does what he does year in year out, basically he's a lock to have a great season (barring injury) while Lowell will probably perform well - he may not generate the numbers he did this year.

again, he could be worth the money(Pudge) but Mike Lowell is just entereing his prime and is arguably the BEST 3rd baseman in baseball
