February 12, 200917 yr On the front page of minorleaguebaseball.net Pretty cool stuff as IMO Uggla does have a fascinating back story to just seemingly come out of nowhere to be one of the best 2B in all of baseball.
February 12, 200917 yr at least he admits he has no explanation for it. "Few exceed expectations like this."
February 12, 200917 yr I love when guys like uggla and pedroia prove scouts wrong.I think scouts get a little to into 60 times and how athletic guys are instead of seeing how well the guy plays ball. I remeber scouts loved Ruben Rivera because he was such a "great athlete" but he blew in the big leagues.
February 12, 200917 yr Author This is the part I find most interesting btw: His Sim Scores are weird, with a bunch of catchers showing up: Carlton Fisk, Mike Lieberthal, Johnny Romano, Ed Bailey, Jorge Posada, Jeff Kent, John Valentin, Al Rosen, Jody Davis, Tim Teufel being the Top 10. Throw the catchers out and that gives you infielders Kent, Valentin, Rosen, and Teufel. The only one of the infielders who was effective beyond age 32 was Kent, so it will be interesting to see how long Uggla can last at his current level of production. He performed much worse in the second half last year (.286/.374/.605 pre-All Star, .226/.343/.396 post). Is that a bad omen for '09? I hope we don't pull a Dontrelle here and hold on to Uggla a half season too long.

He wasn't even anything special in the minor leagues, really. Totally different from Pedroia. Pedroia was actually viewed as a good prospect in the Boston organization, as well, so I'm not sure why you even put him there.
