February 16, 200917 yr Craig, the proprietor of FishStripes, the Marlins blog at SBNation, has received a letter from Dr. Ronald Cox, the associate professor at the Department of Politics, FIU. It has some good hopeful news in it. 1) Sarnoff was mostly disingenuous about his claims of only learning about details of the agreement the previous night, and is clearly posturing for a potential Mayoral race against Joe Sanchez. 2) A conference call was not arranged with Spence-Jones because they were convinced her vote wasn't needed. She is still in favor of the stadium agreement as currently written (contrary to rumors on this site), and they aren't going to bother re-negotiating...they will just reconvene on March 12, with Spence-Jones in attendance, and vote for the current agreement. 3) Some potentially really good news: the public bidding waiver that requires the county supermajority will be voted on separately. If it passes, this will let the construction agreements be passed with a simple majority, leaving any questions on votes irrelevant.
February 17, 200917 yr Im' sorry, all that just went over my head. What does #3 mean Instead of needing 9 yays, it would only take 7 to pass.
