November 6, 200322 yr I just wanted in inform you guys that I saw an article in the local section of the PBP a few days ago that said a few Marlins are going to be at Roger Dean stadium tomorrow *Friday* I think from 10-12pm. Signing and for pictures I don't know who's going to be there but I am guessing (Pavano-he lives in Palm Beach Gardens and maybe Conine- he lives in Weston.) :thumbdown I am not going to be there I have *School* :thumbdown If anyone goes, please tell me who was there? Have a wonderful day! :thumbup
November 6, 200322 yr another idiot 'planner' who schedules this to be in the middle of a work and school day.
November 6, 200322 yr Author Here's the article Tuesday, November 4 Some Marlins coming to Jupiter By Deana Poole, Palm Beach Post Staff Writer Tuesday, November 4, 2003 To the throngs of women and girls across the area who spent the past few months drooling over their favorite Marlins player: Mark your calendar. Friday. 11 a.m. to noon. Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. That's when a handful of Marlins players will make their first public appearance in Palm Beach County since winning the World Series. But for the next few days, you'll have to rely on your imagination. Roger Dean Stadium officials say they likely won't know who will show up until Friday morning. Maybe World Series MVP Josh Beckett will be there. Or catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez. Or rookie Miguel Cabrera. The public will be allowed to have pictures taken with members of the Marlins. (You could probably even put your arm around them.) Florida Marlins President David Samson and General Manager Admin Beinfest will be there for sure, with the 2003 World Series trophy in hand. It'll be the team's fourth Series-winning celebration -- last week they partied in downtown Miami, Little Havana and Fort Lauderdale. Palm Beach County Commissioners will present players Friday with a proclamation "saluting the World Series Champion Marlins." The proclamation, which was being drafted Monday, is scheduled to be approved by commissioners today. Plans also are in the works for a celebration next spring at Roger Dean Stadium, the team's spring training home. And men, don't feel left out of Friday's event. You're welcome to attend as well. The photo opportunity is open to the public.
November 7, 200322 yr How much does this season cost now!?! $150..... :banghead For one player is like $30, it should be free. :thumbdown
November 7, 200322 yr Do you guys think this will be a crazy scene? My son wants to go and I am debating letting him stay home to go to this...however, we went to Riverfront last week and it was CRAZY!! He got scared and smothered, so not sure. I guess I 'll decide when we wake up tomorow? I also called the stadium to confirm this today and they told me it was from 11 -12 and the trophy will be there as well.
November 7, 200322 yr That sounds awesome. You guys take pics. I am just going to see Pudge at Santa's since I need to work during the day.
November 7, 200322 yr I also called the stadium to confirm this today and they told me it was from 11 -12 and the trophy will be there as well. I'm heading up there scene or no. But, yeah, the Ft. Lauderdale thing was horrible. Did they say anything more about it when you called? The article seems pretty vague.

Hi, I spoke to a woman at Roger Dean. She said from 11-12 there would be some players, but didn't know exactly who and that the trophy will be there. She said it is open to the public for free and there will be photo opportunities with players and the trophy. I asked about autographs and she said she wasn't sure, but definately picture opps. Here's another article from a Treasure Coast newspaper. Not much more on the details. good luck....i'll be there with my two little ones. My 6 year old is still recovering from Riverfront....LOL....
November 8, 200322 yr I went....took my son out of school and went with him and my 2 year old. It was crowded but not that packed. All the polticos were there giving proclamations and such... Carl Pavano. Michael Tejera, Wayne Rosenthal, Dave Sampson, Billy the Marlin were there. I was a little dissapointed because Carl Pavano was just mobbed and he wasn't that nice. I don't know if any of you met him before but he was kinda grouchy. The only autograph we got was Carl pavano. We saw the trophy but didn't take a picture with it because of the crowds. I had my little one in a stroller..it was very hard to have a stroller on the field with a crying 2 year old. As a fan, I am just happy to go to a game and never cared for autographs but my 6 year old is understanding stuff and he also plays baseball so wants autographs. I thought the people who worked for the marlins at Roger Dean were complete jerks. I asked them for some assistance...to get down on the field without taking the stroller down the stairs and they were soooo rude. Just wanted to find an easier way down from below. Needless to say by myself I had to carry the stroller down the bleachers while watching my 2 in a crowd. All in all it wasn't the best day, but at least my son got one autograph and a picture with Billy the Marlin. the best part was the ride home when I took the turnpike instead of 95 and was home in 35 minutes instead of 1 hour! LOL Did anyone else go?
