Posted July 17, 200915 yr I realize that it's not that big of a deal giving Dan Uggla a night off as his career numbers against Hamels have been terrible. However, I find our defensive alignment quite peculiar. The team has been stubborn about playing Bonifacio off third base all year, even though we know of his versatility (and lack of the real instincts required of playing third). He has played SS, but that was due to the absence of Hanley. Gonzalez is probably more of a middle infielder than third basemen, kind of like Bonifacio. And it's very strange (at least for our team) to be moving a starter from one position to another because we just don't typically shift our defensive alignment like the Rays and other teams do. I can't help but wonder if maybe the team is considering the idea of dealing Uggla. I've stated in other threads that I think it is possible the team will move Bonifacio to second and not Coghlan if a deal is executed. The organization seems very happy with Bonifacio, with their main complaint being that he is "playing out of position". I'd be shocked if the team hasn't already at least considered dealing Uggla, but I really think today's defensive alignment could be an indication of more than casual consideration.
July 18, 200915 yr I was at the game in the 1st inning, and couldn't quite tell, but... That ball Jimmy Rollins hit in the 1st inning...Bonifacio just fell on his ass, right? That was a play that should've been made, right?
