August 6, 200916 yr Hey guys, we need to cut down on our strikeouts. It is unaccpeptable. Bonifacio has 1st and 3rd and he strikes out. (no suprise there though, starting him came back to haunt us) Then Ross Gload strikes out right after him. Hanley(our best player and leading the NL in hitting) should not be striking out to end the game. If he really wants the NL Batting Title then he needs to start racking up some hits. I know he is in a bit of a cold spell going 3 for his last 19. TOO MANY K'S!!!!!!!!
August 6, 200916 yr If you think about it, is this team capable of reaching the playoffs or even winning it all with the players they currently have? No. Why? Your topic is the answer. The team as a whole k's too much, and our players are not clutch in key moments. So with the inconsistencies of our pitching staff and the offense, I dont believe we can reach the playoffs this year. It would take a miracle if we did considering all the other teams in contention that are way better than we are.
August 6, 200916 yr Yes, you don't want strikeouts but give me a break!?!?! Hanley is a stud, he's been in a little rut lately but are you going to complain about that???? I'll take this season from Hanley, we'll correct that strikeout by deals in the offseason. Those guys will be traded or let go. Will the hate on Boni stop already??? He hasn't even played a full season. You can start complaining the same time next year. Jesus. You act like Uggla, Hammer, and Hermida were WAY better than Boni in year one. They struggled just the same.
August 6, 200916 yr I can't believe Bonifacio being in the starting lineup and starting in center no less. Why don't we just call up De Aza and start him if we wanted a bad player there? I try and give the team credit for being competent (bringing in Nick Johnson) but they still insist on doing the absolute wrong thing.
August 6, 200916 yr Sorry as I've said it before but look no further than hitting coach Jim Presley, who as a player averaged 145 K's a season. The Marlins hitters don't seem to be making adjustments during a game and god forbid they actually try to bunt to move a runner over.

Why waste an out by bunting if the other hitters in the inning are very likely to strike out as well? If all the hitters on our team are gonna be all-or-nothing, I'd rather at least let them try to hit the ball with some authority- it seems to be the only thing that many of them are good at.

August 6, 200916 yr I'm curious to see the team's stats with risp over the season, and runners left on, because I honestly can't imagine any team in history being worse. It seems like we get 2 runners on every inning and just never score.
