The last Florida affiliate to win a championship were the 2003 Carolina Mud Cats also in their first year as a Marlins farm team. Ehil Villanueva pitched and hit the Suns to the victroy as he went 5 innings giving up three runs and hit a three run homer and scored another run after reaching on a walk.
