November 15, 200322 yr miamiherald.com On Sunday, McKeon seemed to meet most of South Florida at Sawgrass Mills, where he appeared for a memorabilia show. He could have walked through the place five, no four, no three months ago and gone completely unrecognized. He even could have done so in full uniform, and no one would have stopped him, with the possible exception of mall security. But now, he was placed behind a table, on top of a stage -- imagine a throne and you have the idea -- and people lined up for hours just for his signature. Several folks shot video, even though the only thing moving was McKeon's right hand. One guy wanted a picture so badly that he unwittingly backed up within an inch of the stage's edge, nearly falling off. ''This has been an experience like I've never experienced before,'' said McKeon, who since has returned home to North Carolina. ``I came back from that trip to Florida with a suitcase full of fan mail.'' In January, he will be back in New York for three days to be recognized by various organizations as Manager of the Year, Irishman of the Year and Man of the Year. He already has done a photo shoot for Business Week and has another coming up with AARP's magazine, in which he will be honored as one of the People of the Year. Next week, McKeon will go to Burlington, N.C., where he will light the town's official Christmas tree. The next morning begins Jack McKeon Day, when he will parade through the middle of the city. ''I think I've won every award on Earth,'' McKeon said, ``especially now with Man of the Year.'' Loria was a guest on The Charlie Rose Show but only after being presented the key not just to a single city but all of Broward County. The Marlins also have been invited to the White House, and Loria spoke on the phone immediately after the World Series to President Bush, who, among other things, told him, ``say hello to Pudge.'' Team president David Samson addressed the crowd at a Heat game. Tonight in New York, Sports Business Journal will name Samson one of the most powerful people in sports under the age of 40. Then there's the sudden celebrity of pitcher Carl Pavano, who, you might recall, began the playoffs as the starter not good enough to start anymore. Pavano reemerged to help the Marlins win Game 4 of the World Series but now apparently has lost his spot in the rotation off the field. Shortly after eliminating the Yankees, Pavano was spotted at a New York nightclub with actress Alyssa Milano. A ''spy'' told The New York Post, ``The two, who appeared to be an item, partied until the wee hours and shared eight bottles of Cristal with friends.'' Who knows where this relationship might end up? (Eight bottles? Detox appears to be an option.) But we know one result that's worth pondering. Could anyone take seriously a person named Alyssa Milano-Pavano? Heck, at this point, how about Alyssa Milano-Pavano-McKeon? Why not? With these Marlins, anything's possible.
November 15, 200322 yr Tonight in New York, Sports Business Journal will name Samson one of the most powerful people in sports under the age of 40. The smallest, most powerfull man under 40 in all of sports. The man should have been cast in the movie "Elf" for god sakes.

November 16, 200322 yr Which is more miraculous: Marlins win World Series in 2003? Or Carl Pavano is dating Alyssa Milano? You be the judge... I'd say the Marlins winning is more miraculous, just because that's probably one of the last teams everybody expected to win and especially with AJ out too. Plus, Carl's not such a bad lookin guy...
