Well we are shut out for the first time I believe.

Havent scored a run in 17 innings and nolasco implodes for 5.1 IP 8 ER 0BB. his ERA went from 3.59 to 4.50.

this is what I feel is holding Ricky back from being a true ace. It seems like each year hes had those horrible starts mixed in that inflate his ERA. Hes just not as consistent as an ace should be like Johnson or a Halladay.

Need a win tomorrow.

Horrible loss. Only 3 hits for Marlins? Ugh. At least Kotsay is finally batting over .200 now. Nice to see a Ex Marlin do good, even if it's agianst them.

Win this series, take next two game and get back on track.

I think we should allow pitchers, even aces, to have horrible starts from time to time.

The thing with Ricky is that it seems like he has a streak of horrible starts every so often, where he may go a month or so of just getting pounded. Luckily, we haven't seen that yet this season, but we saw it last season to start the year and I don't remember 2008, so I can't say it for sure then :)

I thought it was funny that Fisaro was raving about Nolasco being in the strike zone, before he started getting shelled. It just goes to show you it is not about being in the zone/getting strikes, it is about controling the amount of types of hits.

Anyone else notice that Ricky has trouble handling guys on 0-2, 1-2, 2-2 counts? He seems to get guys to two strikes pretty easily, but then has a tendency to allow them to rip some hits off him. I'm not sure there is even a statistic on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if he were significantly below league average in those types of situations. It's pretty frustrating, I think, because he really does have the chance to put guys away, but it just doesn't happen as often as it should.

About halfway down. .445 OPS after an 0-2 count. .448 after a 1-2 count. .816 after a 2-2 count.

The respective sOPS+ are 104, 84, and 165.

Translation: Very small sample size, but he's basically average after 0-2, above average after 1-2, and getting crushed after 2-2.
