you cant win them all..

we had our chance.... Pudge is in a slump...

what can you do?

Looper gives up 2 straight hits. Let's see how he does in big spots like this. He's pitched okay so far, but not in many big spots. One save, & even that game wasn't very close. Here he's got to keep it at one run.

By the way, new pitchers have come into the game twice now for the Phillies, thrown ONE pitch & gotten double-plays. If you're a batter, & there's men on base (obviously a big spot) don't you want to see a pitch or two from a brand new pitcher before you go swinging away??? Lowell and Pudge both have done it tonight. I don't get it.

2nd & 3rd now with one out. Let's see if the Phillies can take advantage where the Marlins could not.

I know you can't win them all.. but you can't use Pudge this much in the beginning of the season.. someone else needs some ABs... and it's the perfect to rest Pudge, he's in a slump.. rest him so he can bounce back..

As I was saying....

Looper still has to prove he can shut teams down in PRESSURE situations.

He couldn't do it tonight. If the game ends this way, my goats of the night are AJ and Pudge. With a semi-goat for Looper.

DT I'm not surprised Pudge is playing this much. The guy's getting 10 million, I want every at-bat possible we can get out of the guy (within reason of course). I would rather see Castro more than Redmond however, but that doesn't seem likely.

5-2

Extremely Pathetic.. embrassing to watch.. So many chances and only result is failure.. what bull...

In my opinion, Looper is NOT a reliable closer - can you imagine being in a big playoff game, depending on HIM to shut things down?

No thanks - it gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

Remember who's are manager and you find the answer to all the questions...

Actually the Phillies have left a ton of men on base tonight, it could be much worse. The way AJ was pitching it could have been over a long time ago.

Encarnacion with a leadoff single.....sigh

Would be nice to be down only 1 run right now!

bah, nevermind Lowell hits into yet another double play.

I know HC but when you are able to keep the team in the game after terrible pitching.. you must capitalize on that.. just thought about something.. I would have had a Bunt and Run with Pudge up there in a slump.. seriously.. there's a 50-50 chance that the runner would have scored with Pudge..

sigh

gidp for Lowell

get em tomorrow boys....

this game sucked

Hey no argument from me DT, I think it's absolutely inexcusable to hit into a double play with men on 1st and 3rd and only 1 out. Hell, you could strike out and it would do less damage. At least Encarnacion would've had a shot. You would think most star major leaguers in a position like that could wait for a pitch they could at least drive for a sac fly though...

Lee flies out to end it.

Fish will try to come back tomorrow with Beckett.

Couldn't have said it any better..

This tells you that managers make a difference in a team.. I never doubted Admin Bowa and the guy knows how to manage.. he got the pitcher out when it was the right time.. if I had a choice between Torborg and Bowa... Bowa is 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times better than Torborg... Phillies are gona have some great year with Bowa as manager...

What, you don't think that was the right time to take AJ out?

I was also talking about past situations HC...

No matter how you slice it - that is an assinine comment. You don't have your team's #3 hitter who happens to be a perennial all-star and makes $10 million a year bunt. The fact that he is 1-15 over the last week should have no bearing on the decision. If anything Pudge is due to break out of it. Get a clue.

Your personal attacks on Torborg and lack of sound reasoning are beginning to erode your credibility.

Nah it's not hurting his credibility, maybe your opinion of him.

I got your back DT :p ;)

Get a clue? Are you telling me because you earn $10 million you can't bunt? There's a 50/50 chance it could have worked.. not saying it should be done but it's one possibility the Marlins should have thought about it with Pudge in a slump.. if the run would have score in a bunt and run.. job done.. tie game. Then.. it's a different story...

Also it's asinine..

It aian't personal attacks.. it's the truth and Das would agree with me for your information...

If you surveyed any knowledgeable baseball fans - 99/100 would agree there was no way in hell Pudge should have been bunting in that situation.

If that were to have occurred Torborg would never have heard the end of it.

Also, if Das is where you turn for support you are in big trouble.

Sorry about the spelling error - did I spell "overzealous a**hole" correctly?

oh so now you want to find a solution by name calling.. I think that comment should describe your IQ

Better than to gidp..

He has more knowledge about the game than you do for your info buddy.. you should support your comments with facts...

guess what... double play..

Malman, I'm sorry to say this but grow up...

No need for name calling

Look, we are both Marlin fans who are both frustrated by the loss tonight.

My only point is that the Marlins did not lose tonight because of Torborg. Torborg didn't hit into the double play - Pudge did. It's the second week of April, not August - Pudge is not tired, slumping yes, but not physically tired. Of all the players on the roster he is the one you want up in that situation. He is the All-Star. When Torborg screws up, I'll be the first to call him on it - but that wasn't the case tonight.

Pudge just didn't deliver tonight - that's all - let's get 'em tomorrow.

As for the "all-knowing" Das - I would be surprised if he felt Pudge should be bunting as well. I'm sure he will not "beat around the bush" with his thoughts on the matter - he never does.
