June 12, 201016 yr Everyone's talking about the bullpen being the Achilles' heel of this team. But stats suggest that hitting is certainly contributing to the team's mediocrity. Consider: The Marlins are 16th out of 16 teams in K/BB ratio. In fact, the Marlins have the most strikeouts in the NL and the second fewest walks in the NL. The lack of walks is affecting the team's run production. While the team batting average is slightly above average among the NL teams, its OPS is below average. Can we still blame the free-swinging on youth? Can we still blame the free-swinging on Bill Robinson? When are these guys going to learn how to be more patient at the dish?

June 12, 201016 yr When are these guys going to learn how to be more patient at the dish? When Pressley is gone. Actually its Presley, but still.. I've yet to understand how this guy keeps getting a pass? How and why is he still here. Yes I know the Marlns have put up record numbers for home runs, but they struckout more than 1,200 times every season in his tenure. The years 2003-2005 they averaged less than 1,000, say what you want, but to me a strike out is a wasted out.
June 12, 201016 yr Patience isn't something as coach able as you think, many people believe its a instructive talent, instead of a polished skill. Some, like Uggla get better with time, but most stay pretty much where they've always been.
June 12, 201016 yr Of course our hitting is a problem but, unless im wrong, youre making it sound like its a bigger problem than the bullpen. That certainly isnt the case. Our hitting has been feast or famine but our bullpen has been consistently horrendous as a whole. Correct the bullpen first
