Miami: Epicenter of Hate

Featured Replies

Can't believe the 09 Gators didn't make that list. Absolutely the entire college football universe was rooting against them the entire season.

I just think it's funny that there aren't any Laker or Celtic teams on there, yet a Heat team that has yet to play a game made the list.

Well we should've been on that list. We've already earned more hatred than most teams have collected through a decade of team play. If Lebron got ran over by a truck tonight and died I think a majority of the world would celebrate. Not saying it's right, but people unfairly consider Lebron one of the worst human beings on the face of the earth because he decided to play for us.

It's a combination of the NBA world's current agreement on their massive hatred for Lebron and a jealousy, wishing that they had what we currently have, and how we are just rubbing it in all their little faces.

lol these guys haven't even stepped into a basketball court together... and no Lakers? or Celtics? Seriously?

I hate that the Three My-Egos are being painted as a bunch of Mother Teresas who have taken a vow of poverty when all they've done is forego a small percentage of what are still obscenely huge salaries. I hate that we have become so accustomed to the overwhelming greed of superstar athletes that when the Heat's threesome accepts roughly $110 million each when they could have had closer to $120 million, some people want to fit them for angels' wings. They have given front-runner fans a new bandwagon to jump on. People who couldn't have named a single one of Wade's teammates weeks ago will now declare themselves to be Heat lovers, decking themselves out in Miami gear with cutesy phrases like Miami Thrice and the Three Basketeers. All those fans who like the Yankees just because they win, or who were devoted to the Bulls until Michael Jordan left, are now going to come out of the woodwork and swear their undying love to the Heat. I hate that. -- Phil Taylor

They really publish this sh*t? damn, could you imagine them if they win it all next year :lol

I love how the facts get skewed to prove points. They took $15 Million less than they could have gotten, not less than $10 million like he implies. Why does he have to be obnoxious like that? Just make your points strong enough they can stand on their own - lame journalism.

That, and he basically threw a fan base under the bus and assumed it will be 100% filled with front running fans (which EVERY contending team has)

I've read claims of anywhere from 10-6 mil over the life of the contract, lower than reported 15 Mil because of the state tax in Florida.

Stop this. They still could have demanded max contracts from the Heat, and they would have gotten them. The max contract would have netted them $15 million more than the contracts they ended up signing.

The income tax is irrelevant here; if anything, since the tax rates are lower, they would have pocketed even more of the other $15 million they left on the table, so they actually surrendered more money in MIA than if they would have taken a less-than-maximum contract elsewhere.

People hate Lebron more for how he left Cleveland and came here than because if it. If he'd gone anywhere else I would agree. And I do feel bad for Cleveland fans. Call me a wuss if you want.
