After leaning on the bullpen for 7 2/3 innings in Sunday’s loss to the Cubs, the Marlins have called upon another minor league arm. Right-hander Steve Cishek will join the club for today’s makeup matinee against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cishek was on is way home to Falmouth, Mass., when he got word to turn around. A fifth-round pick in 2007 out of Carson-Newman College, Cishek opened the season in Class-A Jupiter, where he made 26 appearances and had a 2.86 ERA before his promotion to Double-A Jacksonville. He went 3-1 with a 4.31 ERA in 22 games, helping the Suns win their second straight Southern League title.

Cishek is among the Marlins headed to the Arizona Fall League next month.
