...along with Yuniesky Betancourt and $2MM for Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, Jeremy Jeffress, and Jake Odorizzi. (via mlbtraderumors.com)

Someone with a better knowledge of our farm system should name a group of Marlins prospects that would have been similar to the package the Brewers gave up.

Edit: Gammons says it's a PTBNL instead of Jeffress.

Heh, so it's not bulls*** after all.

The Nationals were apparently close to a deal for Greinke, but he refused to go to Washington. Good for us.

according to gammons jeffress is no longer involved, instead its a player to be named later

Escobar is a Matt Domiguez type at SS, amazing defense with a solid though unproven bat, gets compared to Omar Vizguel quite a bit. Cain is kind of built in the Cameron Maybin mold when he was actually expected to be a legit superstar, good defense and speed with a solid bat with some pop. Jeffres is a pure power pitcher with nasty stuff, expected to be something like an A.J Burnett. Don't know Odorizzi, quick google has him ranging from a middle of the rotation guy to a back end bullpen arm, seems a lot like a Chad James type.

So yeah, a hell of a haul.

Edit: Take out Jeffres then it really isn't that big of a package, depending on who the PTBNL is but obviously it'll be several notches below Jeffres.

now they're saying the PTNL could still be jeffress

That KC farm system is stacked even more now. I can't wait to see them compete.

Milwaukee now has a potentially tidy front 4 of Greinke-Gallardo-Marcum-Wolf.
