I don't see much of a battle there. I think Pierre gives the team more options as a lead off hitter. He can bunt for a single to get on, which Castillo cannot, in everything else they are pretty even.

Pavano in 6 inning has allowed 2 hits , no runs and punched 5 runners.

More often than not lately, our bullpen is very 'iffy'. They give up runs when the starters leave with shutouts, etc. Hopefully, this one won't be close as we have a big lead, but we need to get guys out there that we can COUNT ON.

 

Nice to see Almanza strike out Thome after what should have been called strike 3 was ruled a 'ball' - then he came back and fanned him anyway. Nice job.

Cyggy - I agree - I am tired of the relievers coming in and throwing ball one, ball two, etc. It gets so old.

It looks like the relievers are trying to finesse their pitches and try to paint corners instead of just throwing hard strikes...

I agree Christytod, there were so many times last season when the team was just hanging right under .500, I thought if they could just get a couple games over .500 it would be a big boost to the team. Hopefully they can make a move this year. It looks like the NL East is going to be a dogfight.
