June 17, 201115 yr Pujols would be a Type A free agent. I'm confused. How many compensation picks do you get for a type A free agent signing elsewhere? I thought it was just one. Teams get a compensation pick + a pick from the team that acquires the type A free agent for a type A free agent. So, it's two picks. This probably explains it better: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/07/free-agent-comp.html
June 17, 201115 yr when are the marlins going to sign Jose Fernandez’s Probably not until around the signing deadline (August 15th I think). Unfortunately the current MLB draft system gives agents incentive to not sign a deal before the deadline, as you don't want to be the agent who signed his client for too little. So probably 2/3 of the 1st round picks won't sign until 3 days before the deadline or closer.

In reality I know the draft is a crap shoot... but seriously, Baseball Gods.

Yes. That's why the Rays had a million picks before the 2nd round this year.
