MiamiNative asked for one so here it is!!!

So, I, uh...Fielder and Pujols. Both will get new contracts, but from whom? Will they get signed and then dealt? Well...lets say Loria is pissed and shocks MLB by offering this at all-star break.

Marlins trade: 1B Gaby Sanchez, CL Leo Nunez, Prospect Matt Dominguez, Prospect Ozzie Martinez.

FOR

Cards Trade: 1B Albert Pujols, 2 Prospects to be named later, cash.

LOL or Hmmm...?

No way the Cards take that deal. If they do trade him it'd be to someone who has alot more to offer than us.

No offense dude but that's a terrible trade.

Cards would want Stanton added to that in order to trade Pujols, and even then I don't think they'd do it.

I don't even want Pujols.

I don't even want Pujols.

Pshhh, who needs the best player in the game?

To list the key issues in order of necessity:

obviously the starting pitching rotation,

followed by 3rd base

, followed by closer

who do people want the marlins to go for to solve these problems and also would u want to make a trade or wait until free agency

If the Cardinals somehow got an intication that Pujols was not going to resign, that trade wouldn't be that outrageous.

Yes, it is. Ozzie is worth completely nothing. Dominguez projects to be average to slightly above average. Leo Nunez is getting expensive. And Gaby is a nice player, but will probably be slightly above average for the next few year, since 1B is such a stacked position.

And the Cardinals are in the thick of the playoff race - why in the heck would they trade their absolute best player??!!?

This is true.

im convinced we need Edwin Jackson AND CJ Wilson, and then we would be dominant

Chris Volstad sucks but Edwin Jackson is great. Seriously, what's the big deal about Edwin Jackson?

I don't even want Pujols.

-We don't need a 1B

-Even if we did, I don't care to spend ~30M on Pujols till he's 40+. (as if this team can even afford him, to begin with)

Even if it wasn't, the Cardinals would be better off losing Pujols for nothing and getting two first round draft picks.

Gaby/Dominguez/Nunez/Ozzie for Pujols is a garbage deal. It's basically Gaby and Dominguez for Pujols because Nunez trade value is minimal (compared to this case) and nobody really cares about Ozzie Martinez; he sucks.

hes not great but i think hes perfect for the latter spots in the rotation

We should keep the priorities where they were at the happy, sunny, filled with rainbows and marshmallows beginning of the season. We began needing a solid 3b. Get that first, then tend to the other woes that have cropped up this season. Otherwise 3b will always be pushed to the backburner. Let's put Hanley on a f***ing hook and throw him in the pond, see who bites.

3B is no longer a dire need, not this year at least, it's one of the reasons we got Jose Lopez. He will be playing 3B with Dobbs on and off and Helms will go back to a primary bench player.

Hopefully Dominguez continues to improve in the minors and maybe he will be ready by the beginning of next year.

Yeah screw 3B for now, our priority is to get another 2 Anibal like pitchers for the rotation. Cj wilson would be a dream come true but will not happen anytime soon.

So some of you are still in 'we're trying to play .600 ball from now on and maybe make the playoffs this year' mode?

Wouldn't they just receive one pick in the sandwich round?

Pujols would be a Type A free agent.

Forget Pujols, he doesn't address a flaw in the offense and should be beginning a decline.

We need either a CF or 2B, a 3B, and a Starting Pitcher - we could also use a legitimate power threat from the bench.

top priority is starting pitchers, everything else is secondary

Oh I agree that we shouldn't pursue Pujols and we are solid on the 1st base front. And of course the $ could be stretched out to fill other, more pressing, needs.

But to say you don't want Pujols... that's stretching it.

I'm confused. How many compensation picks do you get for a type A free agent signing elsewhere? I thought it was just one.
