1. This isn't Florida Marlins talk

2. Yes, that is their stage. Yes, those are flat metal panels going over home plate. Yes, they are in the middle of destroying the Miami Dolphins grass.

3. U2 sucks

5. You guys both suck :p

Gotta distract from the music.

Gotta distract from the music.

Bono may love the Marlins, but the Marlins don't love him back.

Go away, party pooper.

gee whiz, 73000 people make it to the marlins sh*tty stadium, with a threat of rain, on a humid night, and I am sure some even came from s miami, on a work nite,,,,,,so lets hear some more brilliant excuses why the marlins cant draw flies.........and to hear a crappy band like the sucky U2......BTW I went....it was great

This thread is gold, Jerry.

Did U2 play 81 nights in 6 months at JRS?

There's a big difference in selling 73000 tickets one time every 10+ years and doing that every other night.

I don't have the numbers yet, but it was more than 73,000!

also facepalm on the bold part. What?

It's being estimated at 75,000 according to the Miami Herald. My guess is that it was around or less than that or else they'd put out the real number.

That's still ridiculously impressive, they easily eclipsed the numbers Madonna and Sir Paul put up in the last few years.

Every seat minus about 200-500 were filled on my estimate, so it was probably a sold out show. But in terms of attendance, you've got to imagine there was roughly 5,000-7,000 in General Admission attendance as well. I can't imagine they didn't have 80,000 in the house.

The pictures I saw showed more empty seats than 200-500 seats open (which would be like 6-10 empty rows tops).

But even if your numbers are right, 80,000 people don't fit with the baseball formation. 68 in the stands plus 7 on the ground gives the 75M estimate the Herald gave.

It wasn't exactly the baseball setup. Plus, they added seats in the platform/handicap area thingies and made their own.

We'll have the numbers soon enough... and I don't know what pictures you were looking at but there's a good chance you saw pictures from before about 1/4 the way through the show. By Moment of Surrender (the finale) it was hard to make out an empty seat in the house.

Out of interest Dr Beinfest, do you guys get much of a "bounce" in the crowd right at the front in American gigs?

bounce as in... the crowd was moving?

If so, hell yeah. Everyone was moving. Well, of course, depending on the song. They don't yet understand that songs like North Star are buzzkilers :lol

My montage thingy. View. Comment. Like. Subscribe. Something. Show me some YouTube love!

So the number that's been going around is "an estimated 75000", which as I said before, is the number that makes sense.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was 75,000... we'll see. I severely overestimated the GA size though (mainly because I figured they were making it football field rather than Marlin field and then tucking it to one end).

We'll wait and see with the box office numbers. They've yet to be released. You said photos, Rab? I got tons of em up (Facebook). And tons of videos.

  • 2 weeks later...

You said 75,000, I said 80,000.

Miami

Gross-$6,951,596

Attendance-77,323

Ave ticket price-$90 (going up a tad)

Just a hair under the midpoint between our estimates. And I believe that is indeed a sellout.
