November 28, 201114 yr So much scandal in high profile Division I programs these days... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7288286/bernie-fine-fired-syracuse-amid-molestation-allegations SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University fired associate head basketball coach Bernie Fine on Sunday in the wake of an investigation of child molestation allegations against him. "At the direction of Chancellor Cantor, Bernie Fine's employment with Syracuse University has been terminated, effective immediately," Kevin Quinn, the school's senior vice president for public affairs, said in a statement. The 65-year-old Fine was in his 36th season at his alma mater. He had the longest active streak of consecutive seasons at one school among assistant coaches in Division I.
November 28, 201114 yr I listened to Bernie Fine's wife talking to one of the accused which was taped back in 2002. Not known to her. Supposedly it is her voice and verified. Really sad that she knew it was going on because she saw it first hand and didn't do anything.

Apparently the wife had a sexual relationship with the abused child, as well.

She has serious issues as well if she knew about and participated in this. And why was Davis continuing his sexual relations with Fine until he was 27? I don't understand that. Florida's playing at Syracuse this Friday on ESPN. That should be interesting.
November 28, 201114 yr And why was Davis continuing his sexual relations with Fine until he was 27? I don't understand that. Sexual assault can have really severe repercussions as far as long term mental health is concerned.

There is something to say when the person commiting the battery is a person of authority in respect to the child. But this went into adulthood. I would have thought the coach would not appear as a person in authority at that time. He didn't work at the college in some capacity for Fine did he as an adult? It is also bizarre to me that he would talk to Fine's wife about it. That's an odd relationship also let alone the affair they had. I do know someone I met who had sexually abused by her older brother. As a child she somehow believed that it was "normal" for this type of relationship occur. She did not talk to anyone about it because either her brother said it was normal or she just thought so. But it went into her late teens/early 20's and stopped when her brother moved out to get married. Then somehow the realization hit. This person does have many mental health issues and has been on disability at times and at times unable to hold a job down. And when she finally told her parents what was going on, her parents wouldn't believe her and sided with the brother. What a mess.

Same goes for victims of sexual harassment (not counting women represented by Gloria Allred), but the real ones out of fear of nobody believing them.
