November 29, 200322 yr well, altavista has a very literal translator (see: cabrera = goatherd... LOL). this is its crude translation: Baseball -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted on the Sat, Nov. 29, 2003 Venezuela in its heart Special for the New Herald CARACAS RUSTY KENNEDY Associated Press MIGUEL GOATHERD, who left the anonymity to the fame with the Marlins, aspires to soon dress the uniform the Tigers of Aragua. Nit accepts would like more to Miguel Goatherd than to play in the Venezuelan championship with the Tigers of Aragua, but still it hopes by the permission of the Marlins of Florida to crown that objective. ' ' I know that much people want to see me play in Venezuela and I I do not see the moment that they finish giving me the permission to help my equip?', of clar? Goatherd, whom year in Ligas threaded an impressive performance with the Marlins in its east debut Greater. Goatherd that way expressed this week in a ceremony in which she was proclaimed integral of the group of Polar Malt?n Leaders, conformed by figures of the sport that better represent their community. In the occasion of that investiture, next a tribute to Goatherd in the University stage will surrender to him, according to the announced thing by that company/signature. The young person of hardly 20 years of age transformed overnight into tremendous ?dolo for his countrymen when batting for 268, with 12 home runs and 62 races impelled to the service of the Marlins, in hardly 314 turns since she was ascended in June. I prospect in fact turned it impressed immediately to tirios and troyanos when deciding its first game with a quadrangular one, and was key in happens of the Marlins to the postemporada and possible conquest of the World-wide Series. Of course, its performance multiplied the interest of the Venezuelan fans with a view to the present campaign. ' ' Before coming to Venezuela we had spoken with the management [ to me of the Marlins ]and seemed that there was no problem?', Goatherd in the press conference in her country declared. `` To last hour, the owner [ Jeffrey Loria ] said that it did not agree and that pensar??'. ' ' I every day call to my lawyer to see if ] already gave to answer [ the Marlins ' ', the Venezuelan young outstanding added. Also, Goatherd remembered the fascinating experience to help to gain the World-wide Series. ' ' If you they had seen the moved thing that we were all in the Mundial'' Series, Goatherd recalled. `` Era all along a push spirit. We had the challenge to win to the Yankees''. The advice of the then instructor of the Marlins and today to m?nager of the Average White of Chicago, Ozzie Guill?n, never could be forgotten by the versatile inexperienced pelotero. ' ' the form to be and the enthusiasm of Guill?n in dugout were very important for the equipment and specially for which we did not speak ingl?s'' very well, Goatherd expressed. `` Always we had, thanks to him, that sensation of security and being able to gain in everything moment?'. to confirm the performance of Goatherd in Venezuela, the Tigers would obtain immediately to a tremendous bastion. man, i love miguel goatherd
November 29, 200322 yr Something about playing for the Tigers of Aragua and needing the Marlins permission.... :plain
November 29, 200322 yr basically, miguel wants to play on his former team (the aragua tigers) for some venezuelan championship, but he needs permission from the marlins first. he said that he had asked management previously and they said it would be no problem, but now loria doesn't sound like he wants to give cabs permission. so now he's working with his lawyer to get this worked out.
November 29, 200322 yr The advice of the then instructor of the Marlins and today to m?nager of the Average White of Chicago, Ozzie Guill?n This line cracks me up.
November 29, 200322 yr The advice of the then instructor of the Marlins and today to m?nager of the Average White of Chicago, Ozzie Guill?n This line cracks me up. LOL... this one's pretty good, too: In the occasion of that investiture, next a tribute to Goatherd in the University stage will surrender to him, according to the announced thing by that company/signature.
November 29, 200322 yr The guy wants to play and demonstrate his skills on his native Venezuela. Though call for Jeffrey. I think he should be allowed to play, but a lot is riding on Cabs. He is the now and the future for the Marlins. I don't want to see him on the DL due to an injury while playing on Winter league.
November 30, 200322 yr The advice of the then instructor of the Marlins and today to m?nager of the Average White of Chicago, Ozzie Guill?n This line cracks me up. :lol :lol :lol I wonder if Oheeoh...Magglio loves that one as much as we do. :shifty
November 30, 200322 yr Loria should not let him play, he is part of this Marlins future and i dont want to see him go down because of playing with his fromer team
November 30, 200322 yr I can't translate it, but I'll tell you what I think it says. It was reported in early September that the Marlin front office wished not to send any of their players to play in Venezela because of political unrest. Here's the story from the Herald, http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/2003/...rts/6712593.htm Cabrera apparently wants to atleast play in some of the team's games. Which I see no problem with. The situation has calmed down a bit, and the team won't be playing in Venezuela much longer with the Winter Series coming up.

So I don't think that's the reason. I think they are affraid of him getting hurt. I just hope this doesn't get blown out of proportion and the kid gets pissed with the Marlins FO.
