July 26, 201214 yr was at the Suns game yesterday and remembered that Jake Smolinski who came over in the Willingham/Olsen deal with Boni was originally a 2b/3b before AA. I wonder if it's still feasible to switch him back, they could certainly use the depth at either position (particularly 3b now). He's sort of pointless as a 4th/5th OF, we have plenty of those guys. I think the move was due to defensive problems at 3b, but I imagine it would have to be worthwhile to switch him back and keep working there. He hasn't really torn it up in the minors but this season he's got the nice .400 opb working. Also new lefty Brian Flynn makes his first start for the AA Suns tonight.
July 26, 201214 yr he isn't good enough. doesnt have enough power and doesnt get on base enough. good k/bb ratio though but he isn't a big prospect.
July 26, 201214 yr He's got a .400 on-base this season, fwiw. And I'm not suggesting he's a big prospect or anything but still seems like it would make sense for depth.

July 26, 201214 yr I mean by all rights it *should* have been because he was a bad infielder... he was never a power guy so keeping him at 2b would've made the most sense. But I don't know if that was the case or not. Eh, just going into panic mode over the 3b hole I guess...
July 26, 201214 yr i think they will either trade jj and get olt or go after david wright so I'm not worried, just hoping they have a plan which i can't imagine they don't.
