The lengthy Ramon Castro thread became "uneventful" to say the least. Is there any real news on the developments in his criminal case? I can't find anything in local papers or usual web-sites. Thanks.

Nothing new. His attorney claims that they have a very strong defense and that everything will be clear due to some video tapes from the Hotel security system.

 

The man is playing on the Puerto Rican Winter League.

Thank you FreshFish. I didn't know about the video-tapes. (I did know how well he is playing now that he has a chance to play.) Any idea when the case will come to trial? My concern is obvious... will this interupt his future as our catcher? And when will that be determined? Again, thanks for response.

i was actually wondering the same thing, so i did some digging last night and read several articles (all of which are almost a month old). google news is my holy grail of news digging, and it couldn't find a newer article than around nov. 6. i couldn't find the date of his trial, so i'm guessing that it hasn't been finalized yet. here are a few (old) articles about him having to stand trial. they have some details about the case, but i really don't know what this means about his future as our catcher.

I fear he is guilty at least of indescretion. He's paying for that family-wise. But, the criminal potential can not be taken lightly. For him, his family, or the Marlins.

I pray for him and I root for him. And I'm scared.

they could say Castro was practicing at the time, & test the catcher's glove to his hand.

My ignorance. Why isn't the Castro case being adjudicated right now???
