Ok gang, at the Florida Panthers game on Saturday I'm going to propose to my girlfriend. We've been to a lot of hockey games over the past few years so I think it'll be a nice touch. (Maybe I should've done it during the Marlins playoffs, lol)

 

The Panthers are going to do some special things, send the mascot over, put a message on the overhead screen, etc, etc, ....

 

This board is never short on opinions, so give me your ideas! When should I do it? In between periods? Commercial break? Where at? By our seats? On one of the outside balconies? Should I do it when Stanley (the mascot) comes over to us? I've got some ideas but any suggestions are appreciated! Especially if you've been to the Office Depot Center before...

I'd do it when stanley is around....you already have it on the scoreboard....when will that be up there? that would be cute and memorable

 

any family going? if so, have them near but far....like far enough so that it won't be obvious that something is going on...but near enough for them to be there....to see and to congratulate you ........

no family unfortunately, they don't live in town. & yeah i'm hoping to get the arena to put the message up on the big screen at the right moment. (when that moment should be though, i'm not sure)

It'll be kinda cool if she's announced on the speakers or whatever that she has the "the winner and has won a prize" of some sort...they can call her by seat number ....and then the mascot comes and someone tells her shes won something big......and you're what she won and then you propose to her...well, something like that would be really nice !!!!

No man, it can be done, when the 1st period ends you go the bathroom then they announce "The person in Seat Number 124 has won a Prize and the mascot will now go ahead and give it to you , then you walk out with the mascot , you in back of it and BAM, just propose........Well, anyways, Good Luck man and congrats

first off, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! i don't know even you but i'm helluva happy for you!

 

i don't have any marriage proposal experience, but if you're anything like me (or most human beings), you'll probably be completely out of it and sweating buckets during the game up until proposal time. if i were in your shoes, i'd definitely plan to propose EARLY in the game. that way, you have the entire rest of the game to be in happyland (before you step in the car and realize wtf you just did).

 

i think you should pick an early commercial break, especially if you want an opportunity to draw attention to her (rather than a full intermission when things are hectic).

 

i think it's great you've got the panthers hooking you up with a mascot and a scoreboard. i'd imagine that it'd be easy for them to have the announcer say something short, especially for a loyal fan, so you might want to consider doing something with that. i liked reclused's idea of drawing everybody's attention to her in some way. if you want to draw more attention and have it on film, you might even want to mention it to the camera man so he gets it on TV (he will want to film it). and actually, if you propose early, they might air multiple snippets during the game.

 

an idea would be to have the mascot come by doing his jig to your section, then have him playfully cover your gf's eyes with his paws. quickly go strike a pose. then, as he uncovers her eyes, the image of you kneeling should set off the waterworks. it's not elaborate, but i like it.

 

by the way, i hope your seats are good.

Well, I normally would be chock full of ideas. But I'm not involved or anything, so the creativty thing hasn't clicked :confused .

 

Honestly though, congrats. Sounds like good stuff. I might just think about doing something like this at a Marlins game in a decade or so.
