October 10, 201213 yr Some fans have the same feeling, i made a comment about the FO and cancel my season tickets and was told to stay in Boca and go to games there, and you wonder why attendence is so low. We've all heard the "you had your chance, we will show you how to attend games" rantings from those "fans." Then in the next breath say they won't go to the games if there isn't a play off contender on the field. There are so many different ways Samson in particular, but also the entire FO and sales team, has pushed away certain aspects of the fan base. The fan base from 1993-2011 that attended games even outside of the two championship and inaugural years. I've been saying for quite some time, now he is going to pay the price for that. Those fans will be prototypical South Florida fans with big screen HDTVs and 1000 watt surround systems screaming out "But look at the TV ratings" every time the media mentions how poorly we support a MLB team.Your area gave the marlins some of the worst attendance numbers in baseball over those years. Also, don't you think the owners over the years that tried to get a ballpark built in MDC might have know something? Like...even at JRS the majority of fans were coming from MDC? Come on. "But the new park is only 15 minutes farther!!" "It's too hot and it might rain at Joe Robbie!!" "There's nothing to do around Joe Robbie" etc...etc...etc... Funny how those hundreds of excuses only work one way. To summarize......Your area contributed to the poor attendance. It's a South Florida thing, not just one county or another. I'm predicting at least a one third drop in attendance for next season. Probably closer to half.
October 10, 201213 yr I really have no problem keeping Solano at 2B for the season and seeing if he can grow into it even more. The kid can outright play some ball. I also have no idea why some keep talking about bringing in expensive players. It just isn't going to happen. Payroll is dropping this coming season, and I doubt we even see the $100 mil range for a few years. I imagine JJ stays, like it or not. We stuck with him through the bad times (injury riddled seasons) and let him prove himself to be able to handle a start every 5 days. It would be rather silly to trade him away instead of letting him anchor a rotation that isn't going to be expensive. Agreed. Forget Kinsler. If we're trading JJ it better be for some serious pieces. And they need to be cheap or fill a major need. Another guy like Turner would be a must. Kinsler? Forget Kinsler. A middle infielder making a sh*tload that isn't that great playing in a major hitters park in a loaded lineup. No thanks. Career OPS of .811. Even in 2011 when he was having a 'great' year, he had a .832 OPS, he was just hitting an insane amount of homers for a 2B. OPS in Texas? 933 OPS. Away from his hitters park in 2011? .730 OPS. He'd be wonderful making a sh*tload for the next 5 years with a .790 OPS for us and good defense. Career OPS in Arlington of .915 OPS and away from Arlingtion .717 OPS. But yeah, we should trade for him and give away our biggest trade asset. He can join Buehrle and Reyes. In 2015 they'd probably combine for 60-70 million just the 3 of them. Why do some of you want to spend money on a position player where we actually have someone with a bit of potential and talent on the cheap? We have Ruggiano in LF or CF and we have Solano at 2B and Brantly at C. Let's focus on 3B, SP and the other OF spot. Remembering we have Boni at 2B also if Solano falls flat on his face. I really have no problem with Boni playing one of the OF spots daily. Some pen help and 3B is what I see is needed. SP and bench would sweeten things. But I think bench can be adressed during ST with some minor league signings/invites. They gave Brantly a pretty good look this year. There's alot of room for improvement on his defense and we have yet to see if he can adjust to pitchers adjusting to him. I have to wonder if they keep Buck around to help with his development and in case the kid falters.

They're going to platoon them and hopefully give Brantly more at bats overall, something around 350-400. Unless he struggles which they'll turn to Buck and his solid defense. Anything is better than having Hayes out there.
