June 21, 201313 yr Desclafani fantastic in his first AA start. Marisnick was hit on the hand in Wednesday's game, haven't heard how long he's out but it's the same hand he hurt at the start of the season.
June 21, 201313 yr So what do the NYPL players do for the first two months of the season waiting to play? Extended Spring Training?
June 21, 201313 yr Author So what do the NYPL players do for the first two months of the season waiting to play? Extended Spring Training? Yup you got it...and a good amount of the draft picks go to NYPL and GCL which is why those seasons start so late...But that is what extended spring is for.
June 21, 201313 yr Descalfini only had 74 pitches in his 6 innings and we took him out. Once again i say i hate the way we handle our young pitchers.
June 21, 201313 yr Descalfini only had 74 pitches in his 6 innings and we took him out. Once again i say i hate the way we handle our young pitchers. 74? Seriously? :| Give em a pitch count up to 90 for a few starts, jeez. He could have gone another inning. If this was his first start or two of the year, then fine, hold him down to 70-75, but it's freakin' JUNE, push him a bit!
June 21, 201313 yr exactly. And we wonder why these guys can barely get through 5 innings when they get up here.

It was has first AA start, but yeah, they probably should have let him go one more. He's been really really impressive either way. I don't think the marlins are unique in the way they "baby" their SP prospects
June 21, 201313 yr in 13 starts this year he has only pitched exactly 60 innings. Thats pretty pathetic.
June 21, 201313 yr in 13 starts this year he has only pitched exactly 60 innings. Thats pretty pathetic. That is bad... under 5 IP per outting. Does he have high pitch counts?
June 21, 201313 yr in 13 starts this year he has only pitched exactly 60 innings. Thats pretty pathetic. That is bad... under 5 IP per outting. Does he have high pitch counts? Did some research. It's a bit misleading. He had a .2 IP and a 2.1IP (rain delay?) start which bring that inning # down. He generally only goes 5 max though and this was only the second time all year he went 6. But yeah, they should really start stretching him some more in AA
June 21, 201313 yr I like the way they handle our pitchers. I have no issue with the limited innings.
