Gutty pitching by Alvarez who obviously does not have anything near his best stuff tonight. Velocity is off and command ain't as sharpn as it's been either. The question is, as always, will Redmond make some kind of stupid move with the pitching that costs the team a win tonight? Alvarez should pitch one more inning, if that. So who does Red allow to blow this one? Jennings? Dunn? Stay tuned, folks!

Almost another error by Deitrich. So far this kid has been pretty lousy since returning from the minors.

How about the fact that was a relatively nice play to get to the ball and throw it accurately on the run on one hop?

Alvarez having a Jose caliber year so far (if you substitute strikeouts for groundouts). Definitely would like to see him get an All Star nod.

You're right. I'm sorry. I'm just a kid, I don't know better. :(

Stanton got some bat speed.

But he doesn't have the bat control Solano does. He's an accomplished minor league hitter in terms of batting average.

I wish everyone had Solano's bat control.

I see Gregg warming up. : /

Why?!?

Well, Dunn sucks, Ramos is hurt, Jennings sucks, Turner sucks, Hatcher has been used a lot lately, aaand Dyson sucks. So ... *shrug*

Alvarez gets through 7 innings. The mark of a good pitcher is getting through the game when he does not have his best stuff. Somene compared Alvarez to Anibal Sanchez, LOL. Now Sanchy is a nice pitcher and all, but when Josh Johnson went down in I believe it was 2011, and the team desperately needed somebody to step up and be the top guy in the rotation, Sanchez failed miserably. In the same scenario this year, with the team's #1 starter going down with an injury, Alvarez has so far done exactly what Sanchez could not do, step up and be the team's #1 starter. Everyone expected Eovaldi to be the guy who steps up, but he has failed as well to step up and deliver since Jose got hurt. Now when I say "everyone expected Eovaldi to be the guy" I'm not talking about any of you guys. I wasn't here when Jose got hurt, but I'm sure none of you felt like that. I'm talking about comments I read elsewhere.

Well, in that case, the guy who ended up stepping up was Javier Vazquez. However, it was all for naught.

Obviously I'm wrong about Redmond not trying to win these games! He brought in his best relief pitcher (besides his closer) to pitch the 8th inning, Kevin Gregg. Wait, isn't Gregg the best relief pitcher Red can use?
