No surprise there...

No real surprises there.....Owens is now a 4th OF at best, and the Cubs tried to rid themselves of Alfonseca last year, IIRC.

Neither Of them wouldnt be Bad Minor League Deal Signees.. Owens would be a solid guy off the bench if they fish were to go after him(to replace Fox on it)

I always liked Eric.

Great speed off the bench.

In additon to hustle all the way and hard worker. A guy who always got his uniform dirty....

Alfonseca will get no more than $500,000 anywhere.

IMO, he's worth a $500K risk.

I agree with the $500K max.

But no, please don't bring him back.

But no, please don't bring him back.

Why not?

Sign him to a minor league deal. No risk.

His stuff is still sick, and Pro Player is a pitchers best friend.

But no, please don't bring him back.

His stuff is still sick, and Pro Player is a pitchers best friend. because if you think about it, he'll actually end up costing us more than $500K.

on paper, he'll be making $500K.

but you're forgetting that he's going to deplete the pantry on the charter, and he's going to devour every doughnut he can get his hands on in the clubhouse. if you add it up, he'll probably end up costing us around $700K if we sign him.

But no, please don't bring him back.

His stuff is still sick, and Pro Player is a pitchers best friend. He's just too darned inconsistent. You never know what you'll get. I would prefer to spend the $$$ elsewhere.

Why waste the $$$ on a guy that is intended for the minors?

In addition, he always gives his $25 cap to a fan at the end of every home game.

81 home games X $25 = $2,025

Why waste the $$$ on a guy that is intended for the minors? I don't think he liked Chicago much. He was being booed at sight by the fans there.

I think he may do better here.

Remember, we don't have a bullpen at this time beside Chad Fox.

Exactly.

A minor-league contract is absolutely no risk. Why Not?

Both former Marlins seem a nice addition to the team and especially antonio if he can regain his old form. He wouldnt be a bad addition to the bullpen at minimum cost.
