fanofthefish
Looks like the Astros made the right call in the way they handled last years number one overall selection Brady Aiken. As some will recall the Astros had reservations regarding his elbow. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/brady-aiken--unsigned-no--1-draft-pick--announces-he-had-tommy-john-surgery-230613282.html
Piazza31
I disagree, they botched the negotiations and had a poor strategy. They intended to underpay him to give above slot to another pick who was deemed by others to be more expensive to sign. They tried to rob Peter (Aiken) to pay Paul (Their 3rd Round Pick I believe). It backfired, and they lost two top picks in the process. It was also a crummy shitty thing to do to offer a contract to a young pitcher contingent on the other guy signing for less money.... and not telling him. Because they botched Aikens contract, the dreams of another young pitcher were ruined as well. His contract should have been enforced and the Astros forced to pay the penalty for going over their pool money. FFS... he agreed and went all the way to Houston just to be told no- because one isn't signing were not signing you. Thats Bullshit. And any pitcher can blow their elbow out on any pitch, ask Jose Fernandez.
