MarlinsFanatic
Just curious -- Ramon Castro's case certainly hasn't gotten the pub that the Kobe case has gotten....but has anyone heard anything regarding the strength of the prosecution case or the strength of Ramon's defense? Does anyone think we HAVE to shop for a catcher since Red's bat is just a little too weak for a starter?
Flag Man
I've been very uncomfortable getting no information on when the trial would start. I feared it wouldn't be until Spring Training time. But, I read (can't cite right now) that Beinfest said they were monitoring it and that the trial would start in January. I hope that's true. Marlins Phenom
I hope he is ready for Spring Training, because Mike Redmond is not an everyda ctacher.

Malman
I hope he is ready for Spring Training, because Mike Redmond is not an everyda ctacher. As if Ramon Castro is? Cheap shot. The jury is still out (no pun intended) on Castro's potential behind the plate. He has never been given the opportunity to start over an extended period of time. In his last full-time starting role at Calgary (albeit the minors) Ramon put up more than respectable numbers.
MarlinsFanatic
I appreciate all the optimism in this thread, but I have this sickening feeling that he will be throwing baseballs against a prison wall next year. :peepwall

Marlins2003
Malman, I think you missed the intent of my comment. Absent post-season play a baseball season is 162 games. In his major league career Ramon has never played "everyday", meaning, in my mind 120+ games a year. In fact, its been three years since he started more than 40 games in a year and that year he started 43 games, batting .239. There's no MLB evidence to conclude he can withstand the rigors of a full MLB season.
Shaq-Man
i can't imagine any of us would have any information intimate to the legal proceedings, but i can give you a few articles to read if you want to know more about the facts of the case... i posted these in an older thread so they are a bit old, but at the moment this is all i've been able to find: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/7190525.htm http://www.post-gazette.com/localnews/2003...trolocal5p5.asp http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/11/05/...ain582118.shtml

Malman
If he's guilty I hope he doesn't catch a day more in his career. Yeah, he can go play catch with Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Steve Howe, Luis Polonia and the rest of the scumbags that have donned the Yankee pinstripes. :hat

I think that Castro will be an above avergae MLB receiver. Evryone needs a chance, as you well know, Willis and Cabrera came out of nowhere last season. Castro has produced very well at AAA. All he needs is a chance.

Guest Juanky
Castro is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Calm down people, I have a feeling he'll be here next Spring Training.
SorianoFanHFW
THATS WHY I SAID: "If he's guilty I hope he doesn't catch a day more in his career. " If!!! If he's truly guilty of such a horrible crime, he should have his wang butchered off.
