First thing that should be done if they plan on being competitive is to sign Martin Prado. Not only one of our most consistent players, but obviously a team leader.

Losing Jose is devastating beyond just missing his starts every 5 days or so - I'm sure his energy in the clubhouse and on the bench during the games will be missed just as much if not more.  There will probably be some guys on the team who were particularly close to Jose that will want to leave the Marlins just for their own fresh start elsewhere.  Any clubhouse would be somber after losing a teammate so suddenly and tragically but Jose was THE energy in that clubhouse so I'm sure the team is just eager to close out the season and move on.  As someone else said, now more than ever, I really want a change in ownership as this just seems like the culmination of the Loria ownership. i realize it has zero actual connection with Loria being the owner but that doesn't make it feel any less like it's tied to his ownership tenure.  All of the crap we've had to deal with while having Loria as an owner and the accompanying dark cloud that seemingly always hangs over this franchise finally breaking open  I can only hope it washes away everything that has held this franchise back.  The fans of this franchise are grieving today and it was soul crushing to see Don and Eduardo openly crying today in just trying to come up with a few words to express what Jose meant to this team.  I don't want to see some gaudy memorial from Loria and co.  I want a fresh start for this team.  I want an owner who loves baseball first and business second and who has the means to operate the franchise as a passion and not as a money making device.  Are my feelings and emotions misdirected right now?  Most certainly.  Does that make my opinion feel any less warranted?  Absolutely not.  I never thought I'd see another player have more fun playing baseball than Dontrelle but you proved me wrong.  RIP Jose.  There will never be another like you to put on a Marlins uniform.
