A new ownership group can't do the same purging the previous ones did. The goodwill will be completely lost- and they'd associate the jeter group with loria's. They cant even separate Huizinga, Henry and Loria. The best thing this group has going for it is the clout and prestige Jeters name brings, his popularity and the fact that everyone and their mother knows Jeter isn't Loria.
August 20, 20179 yr I do laugh at how many people think Loria blew up the 97 team. Also the amount of people who don't realize that Loria kept the 03 team together in both 04 and 05. Casual fans can be pretty dumb at times. Oh the article? Excellent points and I'm glad he called out Passan on his trash article from this week.
August 20, 20179 yr Cote was right on. Joel Sherman of the NY Post wrote another trashy piece saying Martins fans, the few, will not like Jeter's first move. Views Stanton going only as a salary dump. No decent player assets coming back unless Marlins pay portion of Stanton's salary or attach an asset like Yelich to the deal. WTF. If Jeter pulls off anything like this shit team will be on life support and he and his name will be toast.
August 20, 20179 yr We won't find out but I'd love to know what Stanton thinks of all this because I think so many writers are forgetting what a full no trade clause means and Stanton has never truly shown a desire to leave here despite what the media tries to say. The guy bought a big time new home here and if there's a new regime and he's suddenly healthy and productive he may insist on being the centerpiece here even if it takes a year or two longer. I genuinely think Stanton is more likely to stay than go, for many reasons, and the media seemingly wants the world to think otherwise.
