ESPN radio report

ESPN Radio has reported that Wayne has made his decision BUT will not make an official anouncment until after Sunday.

Experts believe Wayne will ask Dave Wanstedt to step down as GM and stay on as head coach...

interesting :mischief2

stay on as the headset man eh? Interesting. I was thinking maybe Norv would get a promotion but I guess he does his best work up in the booth.

If thats the decision I'm not really opposed much. Even though I'm not a big fan of Wanny many players are. But I think its a good decision to have a GM that isnt a coach also.

On a side not I think Jim Bates should be gone.

I want him gone. Bring in a real GM and a real head coach.

And Turner is too predictable on the drives...Ricky runs too much to start the drives. Diversify, beat them in different ways.

Wannstedt better be gone by this week...he's an embarassment to coaches everywhere. The guy ruined our draft this year, taking a useless LB instead of a good WR, which we needed badly. All of our major pickups were on defense, which didn't help us much. This team needs change.

IMHO, if Wayne were to hire within, Jim should be numero uno on his list.

But like I have said, I would rather see a more offensive-minded coach next season.

And why should Speilman be fired? He IS, after all, the person who drafted Chris Chambers in the second round and Randy McMichael in the fourth.

spielman isnt the gm. wanny makes all final personnel decisions. they reported during the post game show on the radio that reports are saying what KJC said, that they're going to extend his contract one year but relieve him of his GM duties and get a true gm. nothing is official though, we still have to wait till tommorow or tuesday

Please god no.

Relieve Wanny of ALL his freakin' duties, or get him a quarterback. It's that simple.

Good, I have no problem with them keeping Dave. He didn't exactly have bad records as head coach.

He DID miss the playoffs with the most talented D in the NFL and the NFL Rushing King you know...

When did they get Jamal Lewis?

When did they get Jamal Lewis? Lewis has not yet clinched the NFL Rushing Title.

It still belongs to Ricky.

Few other teams can match our starting 24. The coaching staff is amongst the best in the business. A few holes and depth issues are all that's holding the team back.

He DIDN'T miss those tackles and field goals.

He DIDN'T underachieve on Offense.

He DIDN'T underachieve at times on Defense.

He DIDN'T underachieve at times on Defense. Well, it's a lot easier to blame the head coach for all these deficiencies than it is to blame almost every player on both sides of the ball.

I mean, both the O and the D underachieved? Why? Plenty of blame to go around, but I think it starts with the head coach. I'm disappointed he's sticking around. He's coached about 8 or 9 seasons in this league now, and none of his teams have ever improved. I'd rather take my chances with an unknown.

What has he proved? Nothing IMO. I mean he is the one who designs the schemes on defense and he just keeps letting us down especially when we play a good offense the last couple of years. If he cant succeed with the players we have on defense then he should not be promoted or even have a job with the Dolphins IMO.

Well I think major change is needed.

And keeping Wannstedt will only hold the Dolphins progress as a team back in my opinion.

I said it going into The season and I believe it was Wildcard who agreed if they didn't win this year I was write.

The Dolphins simply do not mesh as a team, Miami has the perfect parts but Team Chemistry seems to be lacking and that is the most important part of Football.

First off fire Wanny then go through your team and look for the trouble makers, look for the guys that are not absolutely needed for the future of the team and trade/release them, start over again because this team is not a QB away from A SB. The Ravens didn't have an awesome QB in their year but they did have an awesome coach along with a team packed with stars but also The Roleplayers and Playmakers you need to win.

Here's a move I would make(of course this is not it)

Trade Mare to the team who is first in the running for The Next Gramaticca and of course draft him, use your next Pick in the first to of course get A big strong QB(The Phins don't need a mobile guy), Mare is always now going to be the guy who screwed up against The Pats and with the theme of rebuilding he's a clear cut choice to go.

i just saw on the bottom line that len pasquarilli (sp?) is reporting that the dolphins will retain Wanny

Retaining Wanny is mistake #1 to a trouble filled next year.

Fire Wanny.

A coach with some fire in his belly like a Mike Tice would be great. But Tice is dumb, he cost the Vikes the game by not kicking a chip shot field goal in the 1st quarter.

But a guy who can motivate a team like Tice and has the brains of a Mike Sherman and the guts of a burglar.

Thats what the Fins need to find in a coach.

Then they need to get rid of some of the "old geezers" on their team. It seems like their trying to emulate half the population of Florida (no offense to the young Floridans) by getting all these oldy players on offense and defense.

But I can give a more complete judgment later.

If we're going to keep Wannsdead, then i suggest we do the following:

1. DO NOT LET HIM PICK THE TEAM.

If we let Wannsdead control the player decisions any more, then we'll have the same situation as this year, where he only made key pickups on defense, and then brought in some rejects like Derrius Thompson to fill the holes on offense.

2. GET A BETTER O-LINE

Thank god for Ricky. He's probably the only running back in the NFL that could possibly get over 1000 yards with our band of crappy linemen. This team keeps putting off on improving our greatest need, and it kills us every year.

3. DUMP FIEDLER NOW.

My biggest problem with Wannsdead is his insistence on sticking with Fiedler. The guy doesn't have the talent to get us to a Super Bowl. He's been here for about five seasons now, and he doesn't do anything right. He had the worst season of his career this year, and I doubt we'll see much better than that in the future. To make things worse, the guy is unbelievably injury prone, and has missed almost half of each of the last two years. We've wasted enough time with him at QB. It's time to change things.

4. GET AT LEAST ONE MORE WR.

We still need better receivers, although i believe this should be behind getting a new OL and QB in importance.

Once again, Trent Dilfer was The Quarterback for the Ravens in Their SB year, They have just made the playoffs with another lackluster QB.

What do they have that The Dolphins don't?

A coach that can actually win.

You can win without the big name quarterback and right now unless your willing to give up some major players all four teams with the top pick could use a new QB.(Brees isn't going to make it, Gannon maybe has one year left, Arizona nuff said, and The Giants future is not Collins)
