January 1, 200422 yr not impressed with Choi's stats at all...no team gives up a legitimate future star as easily as the Cubs did, and they were obviously down on him when they got Simon.

January 1, 200422 yr The Cubs made an improvement in acquiring DLee, but they didn't give him up for nothing. They'd rather have a DLee in his prime than a young Hee Sop Choi.

Why do people take winter league stats so seriously? People, these guys usually try and work on their struggling areas in the winter leagues, so don't take these stats too literal.

Meet Dusty Baker. He does not like to give rookies the time of day. He thinks black and latin players perform better in the summer heat. Not to mention he overuses his pitchers even more than a Red Sox fan thinks Grady Little uses Pedro. There is some question to how much a collision with Kerry Wood in June affectd Choi. However he didn't receive much playing time to make any judgements. The only notable thing was that he fell out of rhythm of hitting curve balls. His patience at he plate (his best asset, IMO) remained steady throughout. And did I mention that he mashed everything in AAA?
