Took Sandy out after the 8th inning without showing any kind of inclination that he was going to do so. Manageable pitch count, bad opponent, no signs of tiring. Last home start for the Cy Young winner, and he left the game without an ovation from the home crowd because no one had any idea he was done pitching. In that situation, either Sandy gets to try for the complete game, or Don has to pull him after 7 2/3 (or after one pitch in the 9th) so that he can walk to the dugout with the fans all knowing he was coming out of the game.
