From the beginning of this offseason the problems with stadium discussions have constatnly been causing me as a fan nothing but agravation. After much consideration I have finally come up with the best way to solve our stadium woes. The way I see it we have at most 18-20 thousand people that are going to show up to these games on a regular basis throughout the entire 162 game season. Now here is my plan. I do not remember the exact nubmer, but I know Lauria pledged in the low 100 millions for the new stadium. I suggest he builds an EXTREMELY low cost stadium thats holds 20K people. This stadium will cost far less that the 100 million or so Lauria has pledged, forgetting about whatever money the county its built in may offer. In doing this the Marlins will escape Heuizenga's stranle hold he has over the fish and we will get our concession and parking money. Now our new stadium will give us naming rights as well that will contribute funding, we will still be able to sell the number of seats we need to for most games. The best part about this is that all of those fans that were "diehard" for the phillies series in the end of september and on, will not be able to get into the game. I understand that none of this could ever work, but I have trouble understanding how investing 325 million in the dome stadium seems so profitable. In my mind, give me a 50 million dollar 20K person stadium and spread out the other 275 Million over the next 20 years to help us to build our team and support us to the Florida fan drouts. I realize that none of this is feasible in reality, but I just think its somewhat humerous to look at this. Please comment as you wish.

PS: Thank you to all of you POS So Fla fans (obviously real fans excluded) for having made stadium talks more important in the offseason than offseason acquistions and in fact having made our offseason acquistions entirely tied to stadium developments.

Well, we will contribute that same amount of money to the Orange Bowl, which will fit 40,000 to 50,000.

To me, that's a much better solution.

40,000/50,000 is fine but 20,000 isn't enough for that baseball atmosphere.

But hey, that's just me.

But hey, that's just me.

I think the feeling is mutual throughout the board.

I think the feeling is mutual throughout the board. I just throw that little line in there at the end to say that's my opinion but I guess that's just one of those "no s*** sherlock" opinions.. :plain

my post was meant to be taken with a grain of salt, it was a sarcastic comment that i realize could never work but simply was mean to meake fun of this entire process we are going through but i guess this did not come across to all of you, hopefully this will clear things up

It didn't come across to me at all, I thought you were dead serious.

why dont u just make tha ur sig so u dont have to type it so much lol

the marlins can play in my front yard if they want, just so they know they are always welcome...

but a 20,000 stadium? That is giving up on the future. if the marlins can have a third .500 season, people will start consitently going to games. florida has a lot of people, if you had 1 dollar hot dogs, you would sell at least 30,000 seats.

I think no stadium should be that small, and the one in puerto rico should be bigger!!!

20,000 is way too little- just imagine if we ever had a season like this year- we had 65,000 people at games- just imagine how much revenue would be lost

No baseball team in the right mind plays in a 20,000 seat stadium, not even the Red Sox do...

For 20,000 seats, he might as well add the seats to Roger Dean and move the team up there.

Are we building a Baseball stadium or a Hockey Arena?

20,000 seat baseball stadium? There is no way in hell that the stadium will ever be able to pay for itself if you put 20,000 seats in it. NO stadium in MLB is that small and they will never be that small.

The smallest stadium in baseball is Fenway and that holds 36,700 people or something around that number...

So 20,000is your dream baseball stadium? That is just the same as making Pro Player Stadium smaller to fit the fans who go to the games in...

MLB requires at least 35,000 seats in a ballpark, but gave an exemption to Hiram Bithorn for logistical reasons.

The smallest I'd like to see a Marlins' park would be around 37,000. That way if you average 22,000 it looks pretty full. Anything bigger than 40,000 for baseball only, for the Marlins, is a little ridiculous.

44,000 is probably the highest I would put it at for a baseball stadium and only open seats for playoff games. Imagine the Orange Bowl with 80,000+ screaming Marlins fans with the metal rattling on the upper deck railing. If you go to any of the Canes games, you know what I mean...

That would be pretty cool for the playoffs, but imagine 25,000 people at a 75,000 seat Orange Bowl (which is a great crowd). That would be really empty even though it is a great crowd by our standards. But 25,000 at a 40,000 seat stadium is good.

What are your plans for baseball in the OB? A lot of tarp or just a big empty stadium?

They are going to redo the stadium anyway to accomadate luxury boxes and the like so I like to see the West End Zone is the Ball Field with the open end zone the outfield. And I would love the Marlins to keep it a pitchers park since that is their strength.

The OB won't seem as bad for baseball on TV as PPS because the open end will be what the camera sees.

Think Shea Stadium with the open bowl that can be used for baseball or football.
