June 28, 20233 yr Author I know this is completely coincidental but back in 2003, the Marlins played a 3 game series vs the Red Sox at Fenway park on June 27-29, immediately followed by a 3 game series vs the Braves from June 30th-July 2nd.. Edited June 28, 20233 yr by SirFishFan

We had a Boston series in the shortened 2020 playoff year with the same results as 2003 team losing 2 of 3.

I thought it should have been a 2-base error, or at most a single and an error. Giving the batter a double for an infield chopper that wasn’t hit particularly hard didn’t make sense to me.

But my fun fact is more fun 😂 because Marlins are playing the Red Sox this year on Jun 27-29 and immediately following that playing the Braves from June 30-Jul 2. So the dates and teams match exactly to 2003. Actually the only difference is that in 2003 the Marlins came home on June 30 to play the Braves. This year they are going straight from Boston to Atlanta. 🤣 Not saying there is any significance to the dates and teams repeating. But interesting coincidence on a year ending in 3. I actually remember that series vs Boston in 2003. I remember following along on MLB Gameday and having to wait until after the game to see the highlights on Baseball tonight. Marlins did lose 2 games that series but the game they won was an amazing come from behind win in like the 8th inning or something like that. And then in the following series vs the Braves the Marlins won one of the games 20-1. Damn I feel so old now, when I can remember 20 years ago easily. 😂 Edited June 28, 20233 yr by SirFishFan

Without looking at the box score, Boston scored a historic amount of runs in one inning (1st inning)? the first game of the series broke a previous record either in Marlins franchise history or in baseball history for most runs in one inning, I’m guessing both? I also remember Jack playing it so cool, saying they better save some of those runs for later. Boston did just that as the series turned into a score fest. Another thing I remember in 2003, the Marlins would have a knack of scoring that key insurance run for Looper to close it out in the 9th. He always had a funny joker smile when he was on the mound.
