Been looking at Statcast and I am starting to think that in the offseason they gave the same message to Liam Hicks and Jakob Marsee. Swing harder and pull the ball in the air more. Both had low bat speed with excelent contact skills last year, but there was a key difference. Hicks was a low strikeout / low walk profile. Marsee was more medium strikeout / high walk profile. This meant that Hicks, while discipined on balls, was always the more agressive hitter, wheras Marsee has had the more patient, wait for the right strike, approach. The more pull in the air heavy approach has worked wonders for the agressive approach, but has failed the patient approach. Marsee is now heistent to swing rather than patient. This had led to poor timing and a lot of pop ups. I also heard that he moved up in the box which hurts him even more. He needs to back off the plate and start shooting the ball to left / left-center, particuarly when behind in the count. He can have the patient approach as long as his bat stays in the zone for longer and that will be more difficult if he is trying to pull.

He is somehow giving up more homers despite a career low fly ball rate.

Is Marsee a member of this site?

Hes still very young so im being reactive but its been frustrating to watch him this year

Also still mad he didn’t sign my friends kids ball on Jupiter when there was literally 10 people in stadium

My diagnosis for Caissie is to stop swinging at curveballs in the dirt with 2 strikes. Great job driving in a run right there.
