January 13, 200422 yr The Reds have joined the Marlins in expressing interest in free agent Scott Sauerbeck. The bullpen looks like Cincinnati's biggest strength right now, but the team could still use a lefty. Rotoworld,i didn't really know we were very interested in him.
January 13, 200422 yr i didn't really know we were very interested in him. Why wouldn't we? And he'll end up here. Beinfest knows he's what we need to have everything a complete team needs to succeed.
January 13, 200422 yr Cincy is Sauerbeck's hometown. I think they have the inside track right now on him. But maybe we can get lucky?

January 14, 200422 yr I beg to beinfest to sign saurbeck. This guy is a real good LHP and can help our bullpen by alot. Lets see what happens, and try and get in front of the Reds.
January 14, 200422 yr I really believe beinfest should do all he can to sign Sauerbeck. I don't think I could stand another season of Michael Tejera being our only lefty in the pen.

Phelps isn't one of those guys you bring in for just 1 guy, much like Tejera. He's a long reliever. And if it were up to me Phelps would be the 5th starter until AJ rejoins the rotation.
January 14, 200422 yr And if it were up to me Phelps would be the 5th starter until AJ rejoins the rotation. Those are my feelings on the subject as well.
January 14, 200422 yr Phelps is an interesting selection for temporary 5th starter. This an interesting subject - who will be the marlin 5th starter when spring training breaks? If Wayne can earn it he would be an interesting possibility. El duque would be an intersting addition, especially at a good price. Grasequi looks to be a young lefty possibility in the bullpen. Sauerback would be a key addition. If, as i suspect, this team struggles to score we will need to win plenty of 2-1 and 3-2 type games. In this type of baseball we need to be strong late in games.
January 14, 200422 yr Grasequi looks to be a young lefty possibility in the bullpen. If we do not sign Scott, I don't think anybody would be suprised to see him make the club as our lefty specialist.
