January 18, 200422 yr ESPN had the 2002 World Series champion Anaheim Angels play the season-opening Sunday night game last year (vs. Texas), but we hear the Marlins (who open April 6 vs. Montreal) won't get the same honor. Word is ESPN will open with Baltimore-Boston on April 4. The Braves-at-Marlins game April 25 will be the Marlins' first ESPN Sunday night game since 1998. Thats nice to see that the whole country will finally get to see the Marlins for the first time in a while (excluding playoffs).
January 18, 200422 yr At least we'll be back on Sunday Night Baseball. I'm tired of seeing the same handful of teams on there every week.

January 18, 200422 yr Author Thats why I hate watching ESPN Sunday Night Baseball they give the same damn teams all the time.
January 19, 200422 yr Fox Sports Net Florida has Marlins rights until 2011. PAX is looking to make a return in 2004 as well. WQAM's contract runs out in 2004, so Radio may change for the 2005 season. Good to see we are going to get a game on Sunday Night Baseball. BTW, you don't want to be on the Sunday Night Baseball Season Opener. No team to ever appear in the previous 13 some seasons has gone on to win the World Series that year.
January 19, 200422 yr Baltimore-Boston? WTF? Bums! Can't blame them, when ESPN did the scheduling this was supposed to be Vlad vs. ARod.
January 19, 200422 yr No respect- we get no respect Thats fine by me. We'll just get it the old fashioned way: Shocking the World! :shifty
January 19, 200422 yr That's bull, if the yanks won the world series, they would show us, and the same with boston. I hate ESPN...well, i love it and hate it, you know how it goes.
January 19, 200422 yr Baltimore-Boston? WTF? Bums! Can't blame them, when ESPN did the scheduling this was supposed to be Vlad vs. ARod. Actually, the scheduling was done well after the ARod deal was dead (It was announced January 9th), but before Vlad was signed. They were probably assuming Vlad would be an Oriole. Also, the O's haven't been on ESPN Sunday Night since 1999, so the whole "same damn teams" argument doesn't really hold water for this game.

January 19, 200422 yr I'm actually glad that we're not gonna be on National TV all the time. I'd rather hear Tommy Hutton and Len Casper than those damn ESPN broadcasters.

Yeah I think most people agree with that but this gives a chance for Marlin fans around the country to catch their favorite team.
