January 23, 200422 yr I'm kind of torn between what the Dolphins should draft in the 1st Round. First Scenario: Should they go with a QB with the 1st round with intentions of starting him the first season. Second Scenario: Should they draft a QB and let him ride the pine for a couple of years before going out there and waste a high pick that wont help us in the immediate future and then sign someone like Brunell to start for the next couple of seasons till the future QB is ready. Thrid Scenario: OR should they go after someone who can help us next year like a WR and draft a QB in the later rounds to groom for the future. Would like to what some of you guys think.
January 23, 200422 yr Very few QBs taken in the draft ever start their rookie years. Would be nice to bring that Ray kid from the CFL and draft a top rated QB and let some young guys with talent battle it out.

I'm just saying thats one of the scenarios I heard being talked about but I think thats unlikely that will happen.
January 23, 200422 yr I do not think that if the Fins do not draft a QB in the first round it will be a bad thing. If the FO believes that either J.P. Losman or Phillip Rivers are not worth a First round selection and they think they could get a pretty good player later then i would say yes. The problem with this decision is that the Fins dont have a 2nd round pick so they either have to say one thing or another. It will be a 2rd difference between positions. The QB class of this season is not that good either so maybe the Fins might HAVE to draft a qb in the first round.

That really hurts us because the talent level drops drastically from the 1st to 3rd round. My ideal scenario would be draft a WR that can help us this year which in that position their is some nice depth. Then go out and sign Mark Brunell to be our starting QB over the next couple of seasons and sign that kid from the Canadian league and maybe next year draft a QB in the 1st round.
January 23, 200422 yr My Plan: 1. Cut Fiedler 2. Sign Mark Brunell for 2 years 3. Draft QB with 1st pick, and let him develop
January 23, 200422 yr There will be a couple of NFL quality QBs later in the draft. Rivers shouldnt go in the 1st. MD's McBrien could go in the 5th or 6th, as will a lot of solid QBs who don't have that extra threat to run (why get one? We got Ricky.)

January 23, 200422 yr Heckeroo we need a QB ok and still everybody thinks we are gonna get one so we are either rivers or losman. Really doubt we are giving are first pick away or draft a lineman

January 23, 200422 yr Yeah the Dolphins should pick up Brunell. I'm a Jags fan, and a big Brunell fan, I believe he's got a couple of real good years left in him, and I would really hate to see him play for the Bucs or Cowboys.
January 23, 200422 yr i think the best scenario for the dolphins is grab a QB in free agency (if not manning someone else), and trade up in the draft to get either Robert Gallery or Shane Andrews
January 23, 200422 yr Author i think the best scenario for the dolphins is grab a QB in free agency (if not manning someone else), and trade up in the draft to get either Robert Gallery or Shane Andrews Manning?? lol I hope you were kidding. The Colts wont let their franchise player and the best QB in the league (IMO) be lost through free agency. Our best shot at a solid qb is Brunell.
January 23, 200422 yr The only scenario for the future would be to get a veteran QB like Warner or Brunell to fill in until we can get our rookie QB ready for the future.
