LAKERS GUARD KOBE BRYANT SUFFERS LACERATION TO RIGHT INDEX FINGER

EL SEGUNDO- Lakers guard Kobe Bryant suffered a laceration to the index finger on his right hand yesterday and will be out at least a week, it was announced today. He has been placed on the injured list.

Bryant received 9-10 stitches to close the wound, which occurred while he was trying to move some boxes which were in storage in his garage and accidentally put his hand through a glass window.

Bryant will not travel with the team to Toronto or Indianapolis but is expected to meet the Lakers in Cleveland. He will be re-evaluated at that time.

Bryant, the Lakers leading scorer (9th in the NBA), is averaging 21.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 36.4 minutes.
