May 9, 200323 yr Is it really worth paying Derrek Lee $4,500,000 to be Mr. Anti-Clutch? Is it really worth paying Juan Encarnacion $3,450,000 to be on and off? Is it really worth paying Mike Lowell $3,700,000 when he can't get a key hit in a key situation this year... Is it really worth paying Vladimir Nunez $1,400,000 to be in AAA? Is it really worth paying Gerald Williams $325,000 to suck even on the bench? Is it really worth paying Todd Hollandsworth $1,500,000 to be a piece of crap? :angry

May 9, 200323 yr Author More productive players at cheap prices:Erubiel Durazo @ $1,065,000 Eric Chavez @ $3,675,000 Robert Fick @ $1,000,000 Aaron Fultz @ $600,000 Albert Pujols @ $900,000 :o Jose Cruz Jr. @ $2,500,000 Chris Hammond @ $2,200,000 Vernon Wells @ $520,000 :o Austin Kearns @ $350,000
May 9, 200323 yr DT alot of those players came out of the minors..... they didnt just sign them or something.... AND YES....Lowell is worth it.....and most of the time Encarnacion is too going into this year Cruz Jr wasnt worth it, Durazo was always injured, Chris Hammond...hell no
May 9, 200323 yr We shouldnt be paying that much for these hitter that arent producing. D.Lee still cant hit with RISP! WE are playing like a s***ty team! We need to start winning but it will be hard with 3 of our pitchers injured...
May 9, 200323 yr I'm more concerned about the fact that they CANT HIT!!!Penny pitched well enough to win, man we need some bats.
May 9, 200323 yr Gerald Williams was sent back down to AAA, at least he's out of the way. Nunez I would have thought was worth the money, he just totally fell apart... Derek Lee is a pure numbers player. He can't come through in big situations though and will probably always make a good salary just because he hits a few long home runs and plays good defense. On a good team he's no better than #6 in the batting order. Lee's certainly not worth 4.5 mill. Lowell is worth the money. Heck, next year he'll probably get around 7 so he's a bargain right now. Anyone notice Hollandsworth suddenly leads the team in doubles? Not that it means much...
May 9, 200323 yr Anyone notice Hollandsworth suddenly leads the team in doubles? Not that it means much... And Pierre has 7? lol But I disagree with you on D-Lee, he will most definately heat up...Wait 'till he becomes a FA, and he will get just as much money as Lowell will...
May 9, 200323 yr But I disagree with you on D-Lee, he will most definately heat up... Well of course he'll heat up! He always heats up in the 2nd half of the season! ...at which time the Marlins are usually 10 games back already and it doesn't make any difference.
May 9, 200323 yr That is a good point... But we will all heat up in the second half or in about a month, when we have DW in here for good and everyone (except AJ) is off the DL...
