May 11, 200323 yr Torborgs moves? This is NOT a forum to trash what they did in the offseason because were only less two months into the season. Was it management that keep Hollandsworth in there to hit against lefties?, or was it management who keep VNunez in set-up role in that NY series?, or is it management who never plays his bench banks, fox, or castro? yesterday was it management who made Tejera bat into a double play instead of bunting? I can go on and on...but you get the point. Management is not fault free but its early Hollandsworth has pick-up of late while Pierre has slowed down. Pudge has to stop trying to win the game ever at bat. Lowell has to stop swinging down on the ball and hitting into those DP. Lee well is hopeless, hey ramp would you take Sean Casey NOW? Alex I don't want to jinxs him. Management has to now make a wrong into a right. Trade VNunez and get that worthless contract off the books. Call up either A.Nunez or Chad Allen. Bench Lee and start Banks.

May 11, 200323 yr I think the reason people may be confusing the front office moves with managerial decisions is in part to terminology. I am not sure what terminology you all use here, but I distinguish front office decisions by attaching such moves as aquisitions and stating that these were front office decisions. Management to me denotes decisions made by a manager, aka. Torborg and coaches. I agree though that Torborg has made questionable management decisions, and some may have cost us a game here and there. But to not go with Vlad Nunez at the time was somewhat unthinkable until he did the exact same thing again. He was struggling and has continued to struggle at AAA. Some will attribute this to Arnsberg tinkering with his delivery - perhaps another reason why Samson wanted Arns out. But I also agree that it is too early to evaluate the moves made in the offseason. This team is struggling and the lack of success is due more to its makeup than to Torborg's management. After all, if Nunez does his job, like last year, we dont drop two against the Mets. I personally like the moves made this offseason, and people have lost sight of the things the Marlins had to do in order to make these moves - we were saddled by big salaries - and Hampton rejected our offer to pitch for us. If Pudge can return to form, we may come out of this thing with something to show after all.

May 11, 200323 yr Torborg has always been a bad 'manager' of his roster.... everyone saw that as the marlins skipper.... even if he had all world talent....he would mis-manage that roster... ps...10 to 1 derrek lee gets a day off within a week unless he starts hitting.
