  1. So if they win 67 and end up in last place what will be the mantra from the front office ? More bang for the buck? :Batter That seems to be happening for the Mets this year :laughpurple
  2. Hey, if we are going to lose, we might as well break records. Let's break the all time worst record. All we need to do is finish with a win percentage lower than .130. I understand being frustrated with this Organization but the Team has nothing to do with it. You're at the point where you are cheering for this Team to be historically bad just to spite this Organization. It's not the players fault. This is where I am. I root for the team, and will always root for the team, despite the front office. Does that mean I will spend money on them, probably not unless there is new ownership.
  3. Who is throwing out the 1st pitch ? They are even debating this on one of the morning shows on local radio.....and this is the flagship station, and even the Marlins didn't let them know. I am guessing its not anyone special (even though opening day it should be). My guess it's NOT Loria. I also wonder what his profile is there tonight. If he's nearly invisible it surely is an admission he is embarrassed about what he's doing, because if there is one thing we know about Loria, he doesn't shy away from a camera if the spotlight is on him.
  4. Is the Marlins closer role cursed? First Heath Bell, now this? Well the Marlins are cursed but it's at a higher position than that.....
  5. Well it's just a poorly constructed team. But as long as we win 70..... They aren't winning 70Have we made a prediction thread? I say 49. They'll win more than that. 49 is historically bad. The Marlins are not historically bad, and I'm a huge pessimist when it comes to this season. I think they win 65-68 games. So if they win 67 and end up in last place what will be the mantra from the front office ?
  6. With today's loss we are currently the team with the worst record. Samson said we would be better, and he and Loria are geniuses, so what do we know.
  7. Well it's just a poorly constructed team. But as long as we win 70..... They aren't winning 70I agree but not according to Samson. As long as we get to 70 it's a successful season, because it will be more wins than last year and that big payroll.
  8. The Braves are going to destroy us. We'll be lucky to win 1 against them, and the Phillies will blow us away. We could have a 2-10 record by the end of the week. But it's all about 70 wins bra.....you gotta listen to David.
  9. 28,879 (official) 12,785 (actual)
  10. Well it's just a poorly constructed team. But as long as we win 70.....
  11. Oh well.....what else did you expect to happen ? Remember David, it's all about winning, and we have to win more than 69.
  12. Mike Dunn warming up. That's the game. After his outings so far ? UGH.....this is going to be a very, very long year. Eventually the starters will just lose hope.....then even they won't pitch well.
  13. I hope Ramos doesn't turn into one of those guys whose strong minor league numbers don't translate to major league success. Well so far he's on track for that
  14. This is why its tough to be Marlins fan, you just knew this would happen.
  15. Why is Ramos still on the team ?
  16. Stanton is broken It's kinda obvious he is just going through the motions, he has no want of being on this team. He sees other guys getting their money and he sits and waits. I don't blame him in some ways.
  17. Stanton just looks lost right now
  18. So what is Fernandez timeclock ? 2017 or 2018 ?
  19. Wow, I can't believe this....Stanton its time DO YOUR THING
  20. So Loria stopped doing maintenance on Sun Life to force the Marlins residents to build Marlins Park? Shoot. I thought the Dolphins owned Sun Life ? They do. BR is being facetious. Gotcha
  21. So Loria stopped doing maintenance on Sun Life to force the Marlins residents to build Marlins Park? Shoot. I thought the Dolphins owned Sun Life ?
  22. CARLOS LEE, GUYS! I went in to Lids Locker Room the other day and they were still selling his jersey. :lol Now that's funny :haha
  23. Hey let's just give the kid his chance, and see what he can do. Maybe he'll catch some lightning in a bottle and be worth a few weeks stay on the roster. Go Skip, prove 'em wrong !
  24. As for the Cubs this attendance phenomenon Who said anything about the Cubs' attendance? I said generations of Cubs fans (plural, we know there were always at least two of them) have lived and died without a WS win. It's a fact. Loria's attendance problem was 2.2 million tickets (out of a potential 3 million) sold with only 1.4 million turnstile clicks. Lots of unsold seats and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of unpurchased hot dogs, beers, merchandise, etc. See the thread(s) from a few weeks ago. But even with a sold out Marlins Park, and all those people buying concessions, it might not have covered the $ 100 million payroll. This is the problem he may never have the income necessary, even with the new ballpark. That may be the reason why he should have pursued moving the team more vigilantly. Las Vegas might have given him a much better deal, and Portland, Oregon too.
  25. With the revenue sharing money there's no way that even if they finish dead last in attendance, they will lose money. But this year I don't know that they get that much, remember rev sharing is based on the previous year. Our payroll was among the top last year. Not saying that's an excuse, because he obviously way overspent what should have been his budget, so he needed to cut back this year. However had the front office been a bit more prudent the cutbacks certainly wouldn't have had to be so drastic. If he had only spent $ 75-80 million and cut say $ 15 or $ 20 million I don't think anyone, even those here on the board would have had too much to say about it. What I don't understand is the pursuit of Pujols and CJ Wilson. Those signings would have put the payroll at well over $ 140 million, maybe close to $ 150 million. It looks more suspicious to some that he was loading up, only to unload, because he already didn't have enough income even with selling the place out to sustain $ 100 million, how in the world could he have carried $ 140+ million ? Can anyone explain what he was going to do even if they win a world series, he's going to have to unload a lot of salary for 2013. It was just all folly and no foresight.
